Best way to cool the nforce 4 chipset of this mobo?

prefer passive...as long as it is better

okay...i have not actually looked for temps but when i touch it is pretty damn hot I would say.

is that board SLI? because if your running SLI or plan to run sli your going to have issues with the second card overlaping the NB. If anything i prefer the evercool coper VGA cooler. YES i know its a GFX card cooler, but the mounting fits most NF4 layouts and since its low profile, the second card fits nicely over it.

It doesn't matter much if your northbridge gets hot, as long as it stays below 50C (i think)

i will check the temp and if needed i will install the thermalright heatsink with a fan.

Actually the northbridge (nForce4) is perfectly ok with temps in excess of 80c.
