Some of them have ATX, 4pin, and molex connectors, I wonder if that is as an option for if you don't have the right PSU like my old Asus P4 board or if it uses all 3?

The countdown begins. Here's a link to an official press release from nVidea stating that motherboards should be available for purchase within 30 days. :D The article was dated on 10/19 so barring any unforeseen delays that means we should have to wait a maximum of 27 days to lay our hands on the first boards.

If you notice, if they have a molex connector, it's very near the PCIe slot.

The 16x PCIe slot specs allow for significantly more power through the slot than AGP. I think the molex connector is to help provide that power.

In most cases if it has an extra molex connector, the 4pin 12v connector is far away from the 16x PCIe slot. It probably makes it easier to get power to PCIe without having all that power through the motherboard... makes for less motherboard complexity.

I'm partially just guessing based on this thread:

I dont think any nf4 mobos will have agp but I pray that they will too because I dont want to sell my 6800 unless they have a 6800pci-e out for a fair price.

I'm gonna have to sell everything I have now and pick up that DFI board so I can run a couple of 6800 Ultras in it. I know - I'm insane. ;)

I wonder if the dual processor board will be able to benchmark higher than any of the others using similar components.

Personally I have no idea how dual processors helps you.

I gotta ask from what I've read. So the board will support two video cards in the PCI slot? Aren't the AGP and PCI slots different sizes? Also, would you have to have the same video card for each slot. I have an older ti4600 card. I'm planning on upgrading and now this is thrown into the equation.

Sincerely,
Hans Groenewold

Specifically, NF4 boards (well, currently) only support PCI-E, but I am sure AGP versions will be available. But SLI feature will be only available with PCI-E cards and yes, I do believe you need two identical cards (brand).

Then you want to use a chipset that has an AGP, like the nForce3. There is really not too much difference between the nForce3 and nForce 4 besides the obvious AGP / PCIe difference.

I wouldn't expect any nForce 4 boards with AGP slots. It would be more expensive for too little benefit over just using an nForce3.

So am I to understand that NF4 will not have AGP on any boards? I'll be keeping my 9800 Pro for a while, but wanted to upgrade to an A64 939. Should I get an NF3 board instead? I know there's slim pickings for a good 939 board right now what with all the problems people are having with them. Can't decide what to do!

Yep pretty much, from all that I've read there doesn't seem to be an agp slot on this board will only be PCI-e. Just get a nforce 3 I don't seem to think except for SLI pci-e is worth it from all the benchmarks I've seen there about the same as an AGP board. Maybe later on but right now dont think so

hmm, OT, but, i guess now the long research driven search for a good nf3 939 board. any suggestions from the 6 or 7 available? overclockability is my main concern. are any more nf3 939 boards going to be released? i read somewhere that dfi was going to make a lan party one or something but don't know when that'll be released.

that's wat nForce 3 is for. nforce 4 is basically dedicated to pci-express and sli and some other unneeded goodies.

its unlikely anymore nforce 3 motherboards will be produced (at least thats what i think). the epox and msi nforce 3 ultra boards are excellent ocers. you should try going for one of them.
