Nforce 2 sound volume problem

I've got an nforce 2 based board (Aopen AK79G-1394, and I'm using the onboard sound) and every so often, the volume (Wave volume) will drop right down on its own (to about 10% of maximum). Does anybody know if there is a solution to this? I've tried upgrading the drivers to version 3.13 from Nvidia's site, and also tried some beta 3.16 drivers I found (from a link I found on nforcershq.com) but that made no difference.

It's getting really irritating, can anyone help? :)

It mostly happens with winamp (2.91) but then I use winamp nearly all the time, so I don't think it's that. Some games have caused it to happen too, so I don't think its a software issue, I'm pretty sure it's the board or the drivers.

i've had similar things happen with an older mobo.. usually seems to be linked to a specific app or two though. never bothered to try and figure it out. is there any way to "uninstall" the onboard audio and then "re-install"? that might help
