Nforce 2 IDE SW drivers?!?!?!

I was installing the nforce2 2.03 drivers and i clicked no on this IDE SW drivers thing... What is that? I didn't read it so I don't know if I need it or not
 
Always a good idea to just click buttons without knowing what they do.

The SW drivers are nvidia's custom IDE drivers. Most people say don't install them because they can cause issues like CD burning not working. nvidia's not doing so well with the nforce2 drivers.
 
Yea I read that the 2.13 nforce 2 drivers suck but I'm not sure about the nforce 2 2.03 ones... Does anyone know?
 
The 2.03 drivers were some of the first nvidia made available and they were the ones that started the suckage. I think there was only one previous reference driver version which had the same issues.
 
Oh so it's good that I clicked no to those IDE sw drivers... haha thanks Lord Evermore!!! hmm so now to install dx9 and then vid card drivers and then other drivers and then windows update... hope i don't kill my comp
