Do ALL the nForce2 ship with the geforce4 mx chip?
i'm buliding a computer for my aunt, and trying to make it as inexpensive as possible, but goot at the same time (she wont be playing any games).

Also, anyone know the difference between the Epox 8RDA+ nforce2 board, and the Epox 8RDA nforce2 board (2nd is without the +)?

thanks!

Nope... The current nForce2 models out there do not have the IGP northbridge, which includes an integrated GF4MX core.

These were supposed to be out by now, but they are not yet available. The Epox board with integrated graphics will be called the 8RGA

They should be out sometime this month from various companies. Just like with the initial release of the non-IGP NF2 boards, this is taking longer than expected.

Which manufacturers can we expect to release boards with onboard video?

You should also consider an Asus A7N266-VM for your aunt. It performs fine, has onboard video and Soundstorm audio, onboard NIC, a 3-year warranty, and is around $70-75. Where a non-gamer could benefit from nForce2 is if they use USB 2.0 or Firewire devices, and/or need more than two memory slots to do heavy video editing or whatever.

Hmm, if this board is for your aunt, and she won't be doing any gaming, why not go with an Nforce 1 . The performance hit vs Nforce2 will be next to nothing if she isn't gaming. Maybe even a sis graphics chipset would do the trick and would be sooper cheap with reasonable performance

I understand your cause, but you have to understand the user.

Hey..a little unrelated, but does anyone think its worth upgrading from a KT266 board to one of the Nforce 2s? Intergrated video is not important. ;)

you should wait for the next amd lineup (hammer)
im still stuck with a kt133 chipset (thats right, no A and im waiting for it too heh, although i am tempted to do a small upgrade now and then again later)

imo of course
