Damn I can't wait... anyone else geared up for some football? 😀

The NFL sucks.

So? There's still greed in the NFL, as evidenced when last year the owners almost killed the goose that lays the golden egg.

Almost? Almost doesn't count. They got the deal done, end of story.

College football >>>> NFL

When was the last time the NFL had a game as hyped as the Texas/USC game?

Oh, and another reason why the NFL sucks. UNEVEN SCHEDULING!!
Compare the schedules for the Panthers and the Packers. It's ridiculous. At least college has a computer system that takes strength of schedule into account. The NFL is too dumb to do the same.

You heard it hear first, Dallas over Patriots 35-31.

I shall bump this thread as soon as Terrel Owens is named MVP of the game, and right before Bill Parcells kisses the trophy and announces his retirement.

😀

Best post of this entire thread

You guys are smoking crack, the patriots are 1000 times better than the cowboys right now . Bill Parcells is nothing without Bill Belicheck.

PS-Go Vikes!!

How do you feel about the QB situation?

If they put a lot of short passes in that offense then Johnson should do ok and should stay healthy. The backup McMahon is a joke and I think the rookie Tavaris Jackson has the potential to be a good QB(he has a serious gun) but rooks take a while to figure it out. The key is keeping Johnson safe and injury free.

Defense will be the key this year. Moving to a "Tampa Two" defense should help as long as the linebackers can figure it out. They have had average linebackers for the longest time and that isn't going to cut it in the new scheme.

Ratings-wise, nope. I like college football but too bad it doesn't have a playoff system.

Almost every week there's a hyped up game. USC/Texas game got a 12.8/33. A NFL game can get anywhere from 14/23 - 16/30. The playoffs even higher 20 - 26. And the SuperBowls are in the 40 - 50's.

Oh, and another reason why the NFL sucks. UNEVEN SCHEDULING!!

In each division, 14 out of 16 games are the same for each team in that particular division. In College Football, USC cant play SEC teams every week like UGA cant play Pac-10 teams every week. And in some years in college football you don't even have a true champion (two or three teams undefeated at the end of the year).

I'm excited to see how all the changes and new faces work out for the Saints... I'm not expecting playoffs but I am expecting a leap forward.
My fav college team is Notre Dame and finally we have something to look forward to there... Quinn is a front runner for the Heisman and Wies has turned ND into a possible contender very quickly.

Except with the two wild cards, you're not just competing against teams from your own division. And furthermore with only 16 games, even 2 games is a lot.

I agree. 🙂

training camp.....woo?

what is this like the equivalent of saying "yeah! soccer practice is starting up again!, brazil for world cup 2010!!!!!!"

Dallas - straight nasty this year. Offense is scary, simply put. Defense is great too.

Pats won't even win their division. They'll have a nice view of Culpepper's ass from 2nd place.

Dallas = 1 game and out in the playoffs.

Patriots = A Dynasty Reborn. Even you Deeko can't honestly believe the Dolphins will overtake the Pats this season.

Why? The Patriots are weak at WR with their best one holding out. They lost veteran leadership at LB, and now another starter is injured. Oh yea, how about that guy who won them two Superbowls? They'll still be a decent team, maybe 9-7, but no Superbowl. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have assembled a very impressive team, and went on a huge hot streak last year. Now, add in a pro-bowl QB to the mix, they're a legit contendor.

Meanwhile, Dallas took an already potent offense, added one of the top 3 WRs in the game, strengthened the offensive line, a quality starter at TE, and have a finally healthy Julius Jones. Who do you cover in the passing game? Terry Glenn had 1100 yards last year while doubled every play as the #1 guy. Now they've got T.O. opposite him. Say you double T.O. and Glenn, who does that leave you covering pro-bowl TE Jason Witten? Oh, no one. The defense is sick and only got sicker in the offseason. Dallas went 9-7 last year, losing 3, count 'em 3 games beacuse of missed field goals in the last two minutes, two less than 40 yards. Add in Mike Vanderjagt? Ridiculous.

The Seahawks were the best team last year, and they've only improved this year. They will win the superbowl because Hasselbeck has another chip on his shoulder 🙂
