Yeah, he's not that great at running routes, but throw the ball anywhere in his vacinity and he'll pull it down. He has the strength not to be push around.

What? Really? what's the story behind that?

In talking about why he deserved a new contract, he said "I wasn't the one who got tired in the Superbowl", referring to McNabb.

Smart, real smart, rip on the guy who A) convinced Reid to bring you here and B) throws you the damn ball C) has the backing of the entire Philadelphia Metro area.

I thought he was talking about Pinkston, who left the game with cramps! That guy needs to be called out!

I can't remember exactly what was said but before this comment, TO said something to the effect that McNabb was getting out of shape and throwing up in the huddle during the Super Bowl.

Really? Then how come teams can break the contract at any time?

You're right though. Teams can cut and ask players to restructure all the time, and that's ok, but soon as a player does the same, he's labelled a greedy asshole.

I'm from Philly and I'm a huge eagles fan. I dont care who's to blame but these dudes want more money!!!??? They make $8 million a year and say that's not enough?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Granted, after taxes and the agent gets his cut, they are still left with a good chunk of change. I'm thinking, they probably pull in anywhere between $200k-$900k a month depending on what they make per year. I dont feel sorry for any of them!

Bingo

You think maybe the team has that written into the contract? The player has a choice to sign it or not.

Don't be silly. 90% of contract extensions in the NFL are restructured, voided, or renegotiated. Teams and players know it works both ways. If the team signs a guy to a modest contract and he explodes, they know they'll have to pony up. If the player signs a big deal and doesn't perform, he knows he'll be asked to reduce his contract or be cut.

why do you care about the public image of some celebrity football player who holds you in the same regard as a turd pile?

Owner's don't have to honor the contracts they sign, that's how the NFL works. The contracts are not guaranteed, like the NBA for example. The team can cut you at any time and not pay you the remainder of the contract (except for any signing bonus). So that it isn't a one-way street, players can hold out for a larger contract.

Which part of this do people not understand? NFL CONTRACTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED. THE PLAYERS CAN BE CUT AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.

Ice Cube made a point on Sportcenter's HotSeat last night. He said that if owners can ask a player to take a paycut to get under the cap, players should be able to ask owners for a raise if they perform above and beyond what they were expected.

Then shouldn't players ask for a bigger signning bonus?

Not to mention an ignorant tool that is AFRAID to go across the middle. Pussy.

Im not even a fan of TO but to make this comment is ridiculous.

Of all the top WR's in the NFL its Randy Moss thats afraid to go in the middle with his skinny little frame. TO is built like a truck

Thanks, I didn't know that. I can't say that it changes my opinion much tho but maybe some. Perhaps when a player has leverage and has a just case, there are times when he should probably use that leverage while he can, since the owner apparently can dump a contract anytime.

But in TO's case, thats just ascenine imo. He signed only last year and nothing has changed, not to mention he was injured for quite a few games and wasn't even helping the team.

Btw If a player holds out for more money, does he still get paid while he's not showing up?

Key operative word = "ask". ;) I have no problem with asking.

What about when the owners "ask" a player to take a pay cut? "Asking" when there is no hard reason for the other party to comply generally isnt productive. When the owners ask a player to take a paycut, they are giving them the option of taking the pay cut or getting cut. Are you saying when the players ask for a raise, they shouldnt have another option?

Personally, I think the NFL should have real contracts, rather than what they call contracts...

Didn't he have another client who was a Packer, held out for more $, and eventually got sent to a crappy team for less than he was making in Green Bay? Too lazy to google it.

Mike Mckenzie?

Yep. I couldn't remember who it was. Playing for the saints now.....guess he shoulda kept his mouth shut, huh?

Rosenhaus has like 3 other clients who are holding out too.

I hope Philly doesn't cave. Realistically, they have to, but still.....

They won't. If he holds out, fvck him.
