NFL Salary structure vs NBA (and other sports) Salary Structure

I think it is so stupid that in the NFL rookies make a TON of money without even having to play a single down. Most signing bonuses are a couple million for the top picks.

For example: By next March, Roethlisberger's total first-year windfall could exceed $12 million -- easily the most money any Steelers player has collected in one year.

It is my understanding that in the NBA (as well as MLB and NHL (well if you consider it a league anymore) the rookies make a lot less money

A player should have to prove his worth before he makes money. It's ridiculous but I guess owners are willing to pay for potential.

NLF rookies grow famous in college, on a national stage, way before the draft, hence they demand much more money than say a great AAA pitcher.

They all make plenty of money, no matter the sport.

NBA is pretty much get what you pay for. Look at most NBA rosters, I'd bet at least 75-80% were first rounders. The NFL is much more of a potluck and the MLB is all fugged up.

Soon we will see NBA teams starting to draft Embryos in the first round 😛

Labron James is starving. If you have the potential to make the owners and teams more money, than more power to you.
