NFL Preseason Week 2 -- How did your team look?

Cowboys: terrible

I fell asleep during each of their preseason games because they were so damn boring. Hopefully they pick it up come September.

Not a huge NFL fan, but the Lions starters looked disturbingly good last night. Still have to find a way to get TDs in the red zone, but I'll take that first half any time.

Stafford and the 1st team O looked good, Best is showing speed we haven't had since Sanders left 10 years ago... Suh looks great and the d-line looks very good, secondary is god-aweful

If you're a Lions fan who drinks Mr. Ford's yellow Kool Aid*, then join the Lionbacker forum. They even have a live chat room you can join for game day. I was watching the game with my laptop last night and chatting away with fellow Lions fans.

*They say that for Detroit Lions fans, the Kool Aid is yellow and tastes like urine. Anyone who has followed this team for the past decade and remained a fan would happily drink that.

The Detroit Lions look much better than they did two seasons ago. We need Stafford to develop into a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback for us. That offense has so many weapons now--Best (RB), Calvin Johnson (WR), Nate Burleson (WR), healthy Bryant Johnson (WR), Tony Scheffler (TE), and Brandon Pettigrew (TE) that it's hard to put all of them on the field at once. When was the last time you could say that about a Lions' offense?

You might say that the Lions' offense will go as far as their offensive line can carry them. For non-Lions fans, they added WR Burleson in the off-season to be a legitimate #2 WR to complement Calvin Johnson. They drafted the speedy Jahvid Best to give them a home run threat at RB. They signed dangerous pass catching TE Tony Scheffler from Denver. Then they traded a low draft pick for former Seabag Rob Sims to fill a huge hole at left guard. (The Lions have so many former Seahawks on the team now, they might as well be the SeaLions.)

It's nice to finally see a pass rush and they might have one of the League's better defensive lines. After the defensive line, the defense is almost God-awful. Maybe they'll somehow be able to trade an excess running back for a half-decent cornerback. For non-Lions fans, the Lions defensive line has been totally revamped and has 3 new starters--Kyle Vanden Bosch (Pro Bowl caliber DE signed as a free agent from Tennessee), Corey Williams (good DT who didn't do well in a 3-4), and 2nd pick of the draft Donkey Kong Suh at the other DT spot. It looks like the other DE (Cliff Avril) is improving and could become a good speed rusher.

Randy Philips at safety looks like a great UDFA pickup. He might even play his way into a starting spot opposite Delmas.

If they can stay healthy and outscore their opponents in wild shootouts, rolling Chicago, stealing one of four games from the FudgePackers and the Viqueens, and beating weaker non-divisional opponents, they might even be able to make a run at a playoff spot. (I know, I'm drinking the yellow Kool Aid.)

Kind of hard to put much credence into preseason with starters playing very little. However I did notice that Patriots and Giants have no decent backup QBs.

I couldn't get the Jets game on tv, but from what I read they weren't very good. I think the first few games of their season (Ravens, Cheatriots, Dolphins) will be a good challenge and will really set the pace for the following few weeks. If they go 3-0 then I expect the rest of the season will go rather well, but if they are 1-2 then they aren't going to have momentum built up before their bye in week 7.

The Chiefs looked amazing. This is the year to turn it all around. LULZ

Lions fans are clamoring for them to pick up your safety, Jarrod Page. However, with the emergence of UDFA Phillips, we may not need him as badly as we thought. (Now if only we could find some NFL caliber cornerbacks and linebackers.)

I'm not 100% sold on Burleson, but any type of a threat from 2nd wr should lesson the triple teams CJ faced last year....Best finally gives us speed at RB....big concern is the LB crew....there's Julian Peterson and 2 untested players

first stringer wise they looked okay.

mcnabb had over 200 yards which included 6 passes that were flat out dropped. his stats coulda been even better with more yards. i liked the fact that he threw about 4 passes really deep, something that jason campbell probably did 4 times all year last year. his one INT didn't bug me at all, because with bombs will come picks, that is just how it goes.

larry johnson looked like a bust, however, he was going against the ravens defense so it is hard to judge. but portis having like 3 runs and averaging like 6 yards per run didn't help the LJ cause.

defense looked decent too. if it wasn't for the stupid ass fake punt which was like a 51yd run or so, the ravens first string offense really didn't have much at all.

but the depth on the redskins still seems to be a problem, because the 2nd stringers were getting manhandled.

Packers offense looked (and was) unstoppable. Rodgers is simply the real deal and has, quite honestly, the best WR core in th freaking league. (and a TE that is going to be a super-stud).

The defense?...uh... well... they are currently missing/sitting their entire 1st string backfield, so I will use that as their excuse. It has not been pretty on defense thus far.
