I'm hoping for another epic beatdown of the Patriots in the playoffs. Not sure the Ravens will do it, but hopefully someone will.

Oh, OK, but remember, when Brady was in danger of a beat-down he could alyaws count on Welker running a fast route and be open for a quick throw, now PM has that luxury, letting Welker get away was the most asinine move by BB EVER, and shame on Brady for not putting his considerable voice into the matter considering he took a re-structured deal JUST to make sure they had the $$ under the cap rule to re-sign him..
 
Reggie Bush is going to have a very good year
Steelers will make the playoffs
Green Bay is a Rodgers injury away from a horrible season
Bengals will be good
Atlanta will be very good

The poor pass D which was covered up most of the season by the simple fact the Pat's scored a lot of points most games was exposed badly by Flacco in the 2nd half, plus the Ravens had won in Foxborough before and simply were the more complete, better team last season. If the Patriots weren't so stupid to let Welker, (gee, he only led the league in receptions how many times?) and Woodhead walk I would have liked their chances a lot more this year. Asking TB to match last years offensive production with rookies is a joke, he's in his last 2yrs of being a viable QB and they will likely be wasted by Kraft and BB.

Well Luck certainly proved to be the real deal last year, how well the surrounding cast will perform in unknown. Fact is, injuries and team's depth are the most important virtues these days IMO as it seems every year brings with it more season-ending injuries..

I don't know where people get this crap.

The Ravens defense should be much better this year. Yeah they lost Ed Reed and Ray Lewis but those guys were old, past their prime and not worth the cap space they were consuming. Keeping Paul Kruger would have been nice but he's not worth the money that Cleveland paid him and Elvis Dumervil is a far superior replacement. Dannell Ellerbe is another player who would have been nice to keep but again, not worth what Miami gave him. Cary Williams is no loss at all, a healthy Lardarius Webb will be a much better CB. Last year's D also had to go without Terrell Suggs for half the year and when he came back he was still a bit gimpy. A healthy Suggs playing across from Dumervil will be a huge improvement.

Offensively no one's disputing that the one-two punch of losing Anquan Bouldin and then Dennis Pitta will hurt. Fortunately there are still two solid running backs and almost the same O-line as during last year's playoff run. I just hope that Bryant McKinnie can last through an entire regular season.

You think the Eagles are going to do markedly worse than the 4-12 record they managed last year? I think the Ravens have a lot more room to backslide than the Eagles, seeing as how anything less than the Superbowl will be a failure and their team is so gutted they may not even make the playoffs. I'm not saying Philly will do better than Baltimore, but when it comes to most to lose? 4-12 didn't really set a high bar for expectations this year; a Superbowl did.

There are so many teams that would fall in the same boat if the QB went down.. the lack of good backup QBs is a bit startling.

I also expect the Chiefs to surprise this year and make the playoffs.

Maybe a homer pick, but 49ers over Texans to win the SB.

I was referring to the loss of the receivers and the leadership of Lewis. Elvis is overrated IMO, maybe he does better in Baltimore. Flacco's a genuine top of the tier QB but who can he throw to? Kinda like Brady's situation. Hernandez in jail, Welker gone, Branch retired, Gronk injured (again), LLoyd gone, Woodhead gone..

I agree about the receiver situation.

Ray Lewis's loss is going to be overhyped. IMO his cap hit did more harm than good to the team by this point and plenty of players thought his histrionics were more comical than inspirational. Granted you can't lose two future hall of famers at once without some impact but the other improvements to the defense should more than cancel that out. I'll throw a caveat in that if Terrell Suggs and Lardarius Webb don't manage to bounce back from last year's injuries things will be a lot iffier.
