May be too early to look at the playoffs, but here are the contenders for 06:

AFC:
- Steelers*
- Pats*
- Colts*
- Broncos*
- Jaguars
- Dolphins / Bengals (Pending Palmer's recovery)

NFC:
- Seahawks*
- Panthers*
- Eagles*
- Vikings* (@ 7-9 haha)
- Giants
- Cardinals / Bucs (I'm really hoping for Arizona to step up... they have a VERY good team this year)

(* = division winner)

I'm taking Philly to win the division because their schedule is relatively easier than NY's. It could be a toss-up though, I think.

How many more hours until the games begin?

IMHO, colts and New England are too high. They outta be behind the Panthers. IIRC we beat the crap out of NE last year.

And Carolina needed a touchdown in their final drive to beat the lowly Bills.

This idiot ranks the Bears at number 20, even after acknowledging he didn't know what he was doing when he ranked them low last year.

Preseason rankings are useless for football. Parity and injuries make it impossible to tell who will be good in any given year except for a couple of teams at the top and bottom.

Miami won their last six games with GUS FREROTTE last year that's why they are ranked so high. Saban is brilliant and even though Pep is broken word around camp is that he's way ahead of schedule...

The Ricky loss will hurt...but Ronnie Brown did average around 4.5 ypc last season so he will carry the rock more frequently. Hudson Hawk is arguably the best O'line coach in the league and last years group ended up pretty damn good...so this year could be even better. Chambers, McMike and Booker are 3 excellent targets for whoever is at QB. Saban is a defensive minded coach and brought more youth to the group but still kept the anchors Jason Taylor and Zach...Will Poole is back from injury and they added Jason Allen in the draft so the D could be improved from last year also. They also got that dude from the Giants I can't remember his name to replace the aging Sam Madison.

And whoever the dude was up there who laughed at the Phins being ranked higher than the Broncos....who won last years meeting? Oh that's right...it was the Phins.

Thank you call again.

Remember when the Bears had a micraculous 13-3 season a few years ago, then descened to sh!t again the next year?

I see it happening again.

Falcons aren't that good...22 might be a LITTLE low but its not unfair. If they had a QB that can pass...then they'd be right up there. I think its right up there with the Bengals being 18, they've only shown massive improvement over the past few years, and if it weren't for the possible QB situation, they'd easily be in the top 5.

Chargers say that at the beginning of every year...and at the end.

yeah, becaues Drew Brees was AWESOME his first year playing... Oh wait, he needed time to get any good, just like it MOST likely will for Rivers (or any new QB for that matter). They're where they should be, and where the probably will be.

While I agree the Falcon's have a QB issue, Vick can still run and the Falcons will be the best running offense again this year. Rich Mckay has done every feasible thing he could to fix the defense which was absolutely wrank last year. Can't wait for the season to start!

That being said, I don't mind the Falcons being overlooked. Will take some pressure off of them and allow them to play football instead of trying to be on the highlight rill nightly.

Haha. They have the Eagles as 3rd in their division. Everyone is overhyping the Cowgirls and Gnats.

Dolphins at #6 with an injured QB who might be healthy for half the season, without Ricky Williams or a solid receiving core behind Chambers?

Cardinals at #13 is a reach. They'll be good in 2007 if they can get everyone to play well together, but 2006 is not going to be their year.

Power Rankings in May are more useless than Draft Grades before 3 years has passed.

Thats what I like. Under the radar with no expectations. So if Rivers has a Rothlisberger type year or even a Palmer type year they have the rest of the pieces to be a major player. If he doesnt then noone expected it outside of there fans.
