NFL overtime vs College Football overtime

I really like how college football's overtime gives each team an equal chance at winning. I was just watching sportscenter and they showed a game that went into 7 overtimes! Back and forth the teams scored on each other. I think this is a really fair way of settling ties, as opposed to the sudden death of the NFL game. Anyone think the NFL should change their overtime or not?

Another idea that i think would be good is to have one extra quarter, 15 minutes, and instead of sudden death, they could keep going until time runs out of the extra 15 minutes, and whoever's leading at the end of that quarter is the winner. What do yall think?

I think the NFL needs to revamp a grip of rules, when you used to have to have both feet in-bounds and on the ground in the end-zone, now THAT was a touchdown, this breaking the beam sh!t can kiss off

I don't mind the sudden death rule...except for when the team that I'm routing for loses. The extra quarter idea sounds fair...kinda like in basketball how they have another quarter for overtime.

No way...the "breaking the beam" makes for some GREAT diving plays. Besides, this would mean that if some person dove into the end zone all the way up to their ankles, you don't think that should be considered a touchdown? Where would you spot the ball then?

As for the sudden death overtime, surprisingly it has statistically been the kicking team that wins OT more than the receiving team. However, I do like the college OT as well. Better yet, how about a sudden death OT where the team must score a touchdown (FGs are for wusses).

FGs are for wusses

lol...especially when the team gets to the 5 yd line and runs the clock till 3 secs at the end of a game. Longer field goals are better because you never know what's going to happen.

ok..this is on the top of this thread..... so, I thought I would share this..

since this is on overtime..

anyone catch my good ole Razorbacks, and the 7 Ovetime game in Mississippi?
That was insane!!

Longest game in major college history..

True dat. Okay revision to the old rule. Only FGs of 50 or more yards are allowed. 😉

I think the NFL shouldn't have sudden death.. it is very unfair.. I also think they should change the Extra Point, so that it isn't so easy (ie have to run the ball in or something..)

What's unfair about sudden death?

Yeah. I believe in stopping the clock AT LEAST when they're moving the chains and spotting the ball. The worst thing I hate is when there is a couple seconds left and the game clock runs out because the REFEREE can't move his lazy @$$ and get the ball to the middle of the field fast enough.

or how about hte clock stops upon a completed pass like in college ball. i like that one.

I think they only stop the clock for a first down...to move the chains. But I'm not sure.
