When was the last time you saw a pitcher ask for the ball after striking out Barry Bonds signing it and tossing it to a fan? Never, because every single hitter on that pitcher's team would be taking 95mph fastballs in the face for the rest of the season.
You think so? I'd say the pitcher would know better than to do that to Barry. Well, unless he doesn't mind Barry running up to the mound and breaking him in half.
That's exactly my point; in football, they have all these ludicrous end zone celebrations because they know they'll get away with it and nothing will be done to them or their teammates. Hence the need for this rule. In other sports they know that if you act like a dick, you WILL get hurt and there will be retaliation.

Showboating is classless, and bad sportsmanship. There's nothing I like better than seeing some showboating jackass get pummelled for being a dick.
Have you ever PLAYED football? Or have you always been a couch player?
I've never played organized football but I've played competitive baseball and hockey. What the hell does that have to do with anything, anyway? I guess you think that sportsmanship is an outdated concept and you should be as big a jackass as you can, as often as you can?

im all for it, you scored, thats your JOB, its nothing to celebrate about, get on with it and let the kicker do his job and put the extra point away

A sport is no fun unless you can say, "in your face b!tch" to the other team one way or another. 😉

<= In favor of end zone celebration. 🙂

Dude, WTH are you talking about? Nothing will be done to them? Have you not seen a wide receiver get laid out? Have you not seen a running back get laid out? There is more retaliation in football than any sport. But it's done within the rules.

If you haven't played football, I can understand why you think the way you do. It's not like any other sport. It's VERY physical, very emotional, and tempers flare. But when you take it out on someone, it's done within the rules. And that's a BIG part of football. Sportsmanship is reserverd for the end of the game for me. During the game, there is going to be some SERIOUS trash talking. You want to retaliate? Give it your best shot, but I'll smoke you anyway. 😉
