Anyway the cold will hurt both teams passing games which should somwhat negate the obvious advantages at QB & WR of Green Bay & turn this into a defensive struggle to stop the ground-game. This will slightly favor the Giants who have two rushing threats in Jacobs & Bradshaw vs Grant for the Pack & this may well decide the game especially if it snows & we have a slippery track.

I think this will be a very tight game with the final outcome decided by less then a touchdown & I like NY to pull off the upset.

Giants - 24
Packers - 21

You do know that it snowed like crazy last week and the Packers scored 42 points?

I did watch the game & it was kinda hard to miss! ;)

I also think the snow played a large part in the Packers victory because the Seahawks really seemed to give up once the field got slick ... it was like watching two different teams & don't believe the Giants defense will lay down this, plus unlike Seattle the Giants have a very effective running game.

Actually if it doesn't snow and/or isn't extremely cold I think that will make it much harder for the Giants to win because GB's wide receivers should be able to do whatever they want against the injury-depleted NY secondary on a dry field. The only thing that could change this will be if Strahan & company can get pressure on Favre & knock him down hard a few times ... he's had very good protection all season though so thats a tall order.

Win or lose this weekend I'm really proud of the Giants for making it this far & I think they have a better chance to win in GB then most people here or in Vegas believe so they get my pick.

Go back to week 8 of the regular season, doubt many would have thought the Giants and Chargers would be playing in the championship games.

Giants secondary is not really as depleted as everyone is making it. Dockery may be out. Madison thinks he's gonna play, and Ross swears he will.

Yeah, Favre has had good protection most of the year, but the Giants passrush has been hitting QB's most of the year too. They got to Romo who has a better O-line, I expect them to get to Favre as well if it's a dry field.

And you can include me in that group ... there were points this season where I had serious doubts about even making the playoffs.

This.

Anyone besides me going to this game?

Not unless you have an extra ticket and are willing to share...
He could offer one to me, and I would have to pass. I fail to see what enjoyment I would get from sitting outside for 3+ hours, in less than 10 degree weather. Thanks, but no thanks.

I was trying to think of something witty to say in reply to this, but I can?t think right now.
So, I?m just going to go have another beer and frolic in the snow. It?s supposed to start again soon.

10 things you should know about cold-weather football

I was reading this ESPN article and under numer 5 they have a chart with the coldest average home regular season games in Dec/Jan and Green Bay is the colder then any other city by 9 degrees. I wish they had numbers for postseason games. It should be a cold one this weekend weather.com has a high of 5.

I love Wisconsin. Nothing is better then blistering cold weather, snow, and football all on the same day.

Oh, and GO PACKERS!

Green Bay may be the coldest city in the NFL overall but the coldest game I've seen in the playoffs was the legendary 1982 "Freezer-bowl" AFC championship game between the Bengals & Chargers in Cincinnati ... daytime high temps rose to a balmy -9f and a howling 40mph wind drove the windchill to -60f !!!

To be fair according to the record-books the coldest NFL game ever was the infamous "Ice Bowl" between the Cowboys and the Green Packers on New Year's Eve 1967 ... the temperature at Green Bay's Lambeau Field was -13f, but the windchill only (heh!) made it to -40f so I'd have to say its a draw between these two!

Edit: I wonder how long it would take for a frosty beer to freeze solid in the cup in those temps ?!?

 :D

Browns/Radiers playoff game in 1981 was another chiller. Wind chill temps of 35 to 40f below zero. Nice "breeze" coming out of Canada, across Lake Erie (Cleveland Muni stadium sat directly on shore), and right up your ass lol.

That game is also known for the memorable play that cost the Browns the game, "red right 88".

I will be the first to say this, call me crazy. The Packers will move on to win the Superbowl, they will be the team to defeat the Pats in one of the best Superbowl games ever. If they loose than I hate football anyways :D

In week 6 I mentioned in a thread here that GB was the threat to big D, and if the playoffs went through the frozen tundra instead of Texas, there were possibilities. A Packers fan responded that even though he'd love to see it, he just didn't believe the pack could keep it going. Here we are with the Pack hosting the NFC champ game, I hope that guy is feelin' it now :)

BTW, I learned about 4yrs ago, yes I'm a slow learner sometimes, that you never bet against Brady, he will just burn you.

Both my teams, Steelers and Bucs, made early exits and failed to do what they do best, play bend but don't break D. Very disappointing, particularly as I am a big fan of hard hitting D, and the score can be a soccer game e.g. Pitt v. Miami if there are some cats getting Jacked Up!

Atari Bigby will knock every Giant's head off by no later than the 2nd quarter and the game will have to be called due to lack of available players. Seriously, that guy is a ferocious hitter. Old school, Jack Tatum stuff ...

As a life-long fan (grew up watching Bart, Clay, Ray, and the rest on those vintage 60's teams) I am so happy for them, and esp. for Favre.

'Da Pack is back baby !

No shit.....my mustache was frozen solid from my breath within 50 yards of the house on my morning walk. I haven't even seen the chickadee's show up at the bird feeder yet today. NOAA says we can look forward to a toasty high of zero today. I wonder how much the desire for a Super Bowl ring can keep your finger warm?

Go Pack!!!!

Why are the Giants going to freeze? Are the weather conditions the same for both teams? Are all the players on the Packers native to Green Bay, Minneapolis, and The Yukon? I have to laugh when I continually read that the weather will affect the visiting team only.

that fan you mentioned very well may have been me. i remember posting something along those lines towards the beginning of the season. i thought for sure they were not as good as they were playing but they proved me wrong . they deserve to be where they are and i could not be enjoying it any more. there has not been a season this exciting for packer fans in a very long time.

if atari doesnt get a bunch more pass interference penalties and just the wrong time agian like he has a few times this season. that has driven me nuts at least 3 times that i can think of this season. 1st and goal on the 1. grrrr.
