At the time the Niner's had a SB appearance with Jimmy G and although he was not as experienced or as good as Brady they felt Brady was not a huge upgrade plus he could conceivably just play one season then retire whereas Jimmy G is still 15 years younger.
All correct, but from the perspective of the individual of Tom Brady, it probably triggered the old "getting slighted again" reflex. His interaction with the 49ers caused me last night to recall and vaguely draw a very loose parallel to Gatsby trying to get Daisy's attention in The Great Gatsby.

He takes things personal. To us the fans, Giovanni Carmazzi is a nobody that literally causes no reaction. But to Tom Brady, he's one of the many on his "Ayra Stark" list to outperform and outdo. And that's just the one he let out on a podcast. Who else draws his ire, we may never know.

The Bucs probably could have easily just won the game against the Pats this year by running Fournette against the Pats all night, but Brady tried to win it with his arm. Almost backfired, but he did get the win.

While society rewards a façade of professionalism and diplomacy, competitive sports like football are basically war games that reward those with the drive to conquer and crush the opponent.

And for the grudge holding, Leopold Mozart sure knew how to hold one and wanted his boy to be his tool of vengeance against all those who slighted him. He also had a habit of thinking people were antagonizing him.

LOL, very true of all hyper-competitive athletes, I read a story about Elway losing a game of pool at his house, he was so pissed he got rid of the table the next day!.

All these guys were high on the Titan's chances, nobody saw them losing their only playoff game this season. But I was not surprised.
I wasn't surprised either. I think the two best teams in the AFC haven't played yet. But I wasn't going to discount them like everyone else was.

Wow, Bucs are just crapping the bed here. Defense cannot put enough pressure on Stafford and all of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

LOL, Stafford already has 176 air yards and it's barely the 2nd Quarter.

(that was a joke) ;)

Point was you had a hunch you didn't "know" anything..... the Bengals beating TN was a fairly large upset and was (mainly) the result of inexplicable dumb play calls and piss-poor strategy BY the Titans.

The Bengals couldn't get out of their own way for a lot of the game except on D.
This is false. The Titans were just 3.5 point home favorites, which is not a large upset at all.
I never predicted the Bengals would win, but I knew some computer models had the Titans as the weakest #1 seed in league history. In short, they were paper tigers.

The interesting question is what happens to Jimmy G now? Obviously if they win a Super Bowl, he gets a contract extension.

But in any other year, beating both the Cowboys and Packers in the freaking playoffs would get him a new contract. Strangely, I'm not sure if that's enough. Or if just getting to, and losing, the Super Bowl is enough to keep him. Obviously it depends on how he plays in the NFC champ game, and not just the outcome.

3.5 points in the playoffs over the #1 seed IS a fairly large upset.

A 3.5-point spread in favor of the home team is practically a tossup from a gambling perspective, in terms of how the teams would compare on a neutral field.

Call it just an "upset" if it makes you feel better.... TN was still supposed to win otherwise the Bengals would have been favored.

I'm not emotionally invested in any of the remaining teams.

Cry more, Brady. Has there ever been a bigger whiner in the league?
He had a valid point, Von Miller did contact the head BUT..if it's not called it's not called, keep your bitching to a few words to the Ref and move along, looked like he was screaming on and on till the Ref finally got tired of it and threw the flag, not too smart to do in a playoff game.

Brady isn't used to another NFL Veteran getting "the nod" on a call over him.... Miller did pop him in the chin right in front of the official but he also pulled off.

Maybe The Bears should poach some personnel from SF or any other NFCW team that absolutely owns Rodgers.

Shit happens, you don't always get the call even if it is legit, kinda childish to annoy the Ref to the point you get a 15yrd penalty and hurt your team. LA would be better off to limit the running against that D, to many big bodies inside for that to work.
