All correct, but from the perspective of the individual of Tom Brady, it probably triggered the old "getting slighted again" reflex. His interaction with the 49ers caused me last night to recall and vaguely draw a very loose parallel to Gatsby trying to get Daisy's attention in The Great Gatsby. At the time the Niner's had a SB appearance with Jimmy G and although he was not as experienced or as good as Brady they felt Brady was not a huge upgrade plus he could conceivably just play one season then retire whereas Jimmy G is still 15 years younger.
He takes things personal. To us the fans, Giovanni Carmazzi is a nobody that literally causes no reaction. But to Tom Brady, he's one of the many on his "Ayra Stark" list to outperform and outdo. And that's just the one he let out on a podcast. Who else draws his ire, we may never know.
The Bucs probably could have easily just won the game against the Pats this year by running Fournette against the Pats all night, but Brady tried to win it with his arm. Almost backfired, but he did get the win.
While society rewards a façade of professionalism and diplomacy, competitive sports like football are basically war games that reward those with the drive to conquer and crush the opponent.
And for the grudge holding, Leopold Mozart sure knew how to hold one and wanted his boy to be his tool of vengeance against all those who slighted him. He also had a habit of thinking people were antagonizing him.
