Yeah. while I understand the need for "roughing the kicker" penalties, that was really pushing the definition...even of "running into the kicker."

Especially since it was the punter stepping on the Viking that caused his fall.

Have to let the kicker replant his kicking leg after the kick. It's actually a good call by rule, and I'm glad they didn't call the personal foul - that would have been absurd.

If that's the rule, I can accept it, altho its a pretty weak rule. I thought the refs fell for the acting job which pissed me off. Only five yards and a first down *not* being automatic seems appropriate for such a minimal penalty.

That's the point. The rule states that the kicker must be allowed to replant his kicking leg. The viking's player clearly did not allow the kicker to replant, thus the appropriate running into the kicker call. It's actually a perfect call, whether you agree with the rule or not is the issue.

OK. (dennil removes partisan goggles for a few seconds 😉)

and people gripe that the QB is too protected.

The QB rules are MUCH worse than the kicker rules. You take the two kicker penalties out and you will easily shred a kicker's knee. They are absolutely defenseless. Some of the QB calls are absurd, though. Hell, that roughing the passer "going to the head" call against NO yesterday was pretty weak. I guess I could see that there was a slight facemask, but if that were the case, call the facemask, not roughing the passer. That was a weaksauce call.

Favre has been out of rhythm the 3rd quarter as the vikes focus on the run to slow down the game. That said, no mistakes. On the other hand, Romo has been out of rhythm the whole game and isn't coping too well so far.

I cringe every time I see AP carry the ball with just one hand. Didn't anybody ever teach him to protect the ball?
