For me it's definately a toss up between Marvin Lewis and Lovie Smith.

Yeah but the Bears are a fraud team so gotta go with Lewis

the hell? The Bears won a boatload of games with a high school QB and they're a fraud team?

Considering they have defeated only 2 quality teams all season, have one of the biggest cupcake schedules in the NFL, and play in probably the worst division in football. Yeah, fraud team fits the bill.

I'd argue to say Seattle plays in the worst division in the NFL... (Seattle, Arizona, St. Louis, and San Francisco?)

I wish Gruden would DIAF. He's the best coach in the NFL and I'm not even worthy for him to spit upon.

I vote for Dungy just because of their record.

Mike Shanahan, Broncos: I conducted a poll several years ago in which I asked 30 of the NFL's 32 coaches to give me their three best coaches in the league in order. It was the year after Belichick won his first Super Bowl. When the votes were tallied, Shanahan absolutely crushed the competition. Now, I see why.

They've been the team that no one really wanted to believe in, especially with Jake Plummer at QB, but all they've done is roll through the competition. When he first pulled all his roster moves in the preseason, I honestly believed he was trying to get himself fired. I mean, Maurice Clarett with a third-round pick, Gerard Warren, Ebenezer Ekuban, Ron Dayne ? you've got to be kidding. The roster looked like personnel for the island of misfit toys. Instead, Shanahan has fit them together perfectly as Denver now has as good a shot as any to make it to the dance of all dances.

I have to admit, Denver kind of snuck up on everyone. it'll be interesting to see how they fare

I still say Lovie smith got the job done with basically a crap team.

Gibbs > *.* (Although Belichik is incredible)

I really think Marvin Lewis and Tony Dungy are doing excellent jobs though. However, being a Redskins fan, what Gibbs did with this team is awesome. Especially the defense. Now the Skin's (though i highly doubt it, and not sure if this guy knows what he is talking about) are favored in the NFC for the superbowl. Some ESPN article was up yesterday and he went through and ranked the teams. He put the Skin's ahead of the Seahawks. Being a fan, im like "Hell Yeah!!" but in reality, im thinking there is no way.

Edit: If anyone is wondering about College Football, even though im going to VT, Joe Pa is and always will be the best College Coach ever

Other: Gibbs
Took a mediocre team, decent schedule (certainly no cake-walk), and has gotten the team to function together quite well. Seems to have completely turned the team around after the first half of the season. Last two weeks, they had quite decisive wins against the Cowboys (who at that point looked play-off bound; beat them by the biggest margin in the history of the rivalry between the two teams) and the Giants (who were in the lead in the NFC East).

Joe Gibbs.

Didn't think about this until after I voted for Lovie Smith, but Gibbs actually deserves it almost as much... the 'skins were a disaster last season.

For what it's worth, the article says something about not being consistent as the reason Gibbs wasn't on the list?
Of their 6 losses, 5 have been by less than a touchdown...

I hate the Chicago Bears, as a Packer's fan, I am obligated to. However, Lovie Smith has taken a team that should have been horrible, and clinched the division title with them. For that, I would give him coach of the year.
