cincinatti. A mediocre lineup of opponents turned them into this years version of San Diego. They'll crap the bed against a harder schedule next year

fixed.

you missed the point, young padawn...

Going with Lewis. They are still not an elite team but they are on the cusp. They have been getting better consistently since lewis was hired.

My 2nd pick would probably be mike holmgren, I guess...

For me it's definately a toss up between Marvin Lewis and Lovie Smith.

Yeah but the Bears are a fraud team so gotta go with Lewis

the hell? The Bears won a boatload of games with a high school QB and they're a fraud team?

Mike Holmgren gets my vote.

Of course, I am biased, because I am a Seattle fan. He's turned the team around and they actually have a chance to do something in the off season. I have mumbled bad things about Coach Holmgren under my breath in prior years, but no mumbling this year.

Go 'Hawks!

Marvin Lewis - took an in the gutter franchise and put them near the top of a very tough AFC conference.

As was mentioned though, their schedule was a bit of a buttercup. Only real challenges they faced were Chicago, Indy, and Pittsburg. They never should have lost to Jacksonville or Buffalo.

They'll proably lose to KC this weekend because they'll be resting many of their starters.

There's quite alot of votes for Tony Dungy... Since he didn't get the undefeated season I don't think his feat was THAT great considering he had a playoff team before the season even started. Anyone want to comment?

Considering they have defeated only 2 quality teams all season, have one of the biggest cupcake schedules in the NFL, and play in probably the worst division in football. Yeah, fraud team fits the bill.

You could easily make a case for Belichick, who has managed to keep the Patriots not only alive this season, but a real playoff threat. Given their injuries, his coaching job has been phenomenal.

How so?

yes, I'm interested in how the Bears are a fraud team as well. Are you referring to their soft schedule?

Realistically, they really only played one or two teams with a halfway decent record (Cinnci and Pitt) and lost to both of them. At the time they played Washington, Portis and Moss hadn't started click and rolling like they are now. The only halfway decent team IMHO that they have knocked off is Carolina and possibly TB. And even then, those two teams have artficially inflated standings because of a pathetically weak NFC conference.

They have no offense and lose to teams that can score more than 30 points a game.

Not to mention that his coaching staff has been gutted and he's had to stumble along making a lot more calls himself.

Funny, a few games into their winning streak, everyone said they'd prove themselves if they could keep winning as they faced teams like Carolina, TB, and the Falcons, all of whom put were putting up 30+PG when they faced Chicago, and all of whom lost.

Now, those are somehow cupcake wins that don't matter. The return of grossman, combined with the emerging usage of Berrien has greatly improved the offense. The return of several defensive players from injuries following that pittsburgh loss will return their defense to dominating form.

Meanwhile the BEngals feast on crappy competition...Their quality win over the Steelers, when Ben Rothlisberger's (sp?) thumb was basically hanging by a tendril

This same logic applies to cincinnati and possibly seattle.

Colts? Please. Yeah they almost went undefeated, but look at some of the teams they played to do so: Ravens (6-9), Browns (5-10), Titans x2 (4-11), 49ers (3-12), Texans x2 (2-13), Rams (5-10) and they'll finish with the Cardinals (5-10). That's nine games against pitiful teams, with arguably one of the most "allstar" teams in the NFL. The beat up on a battered Pats team. They lost to the Chargers who, while having a winning record, have been on the downslide the past few weeks (although I'll give that SD is in a mustwin situation to make the playoffs). The Bengals came very close to beating them, and so did the Jags in both games they played. Had they done the undefeated thing, sure I'd give it to Dungy. Since they're not, I don't think he's a consideration at all.

I think Belichik. The Pats have been battered all season long with virtually no secondary to speak off and some key offensive players spending lots of time sidelined. Add to this the loss of both coordinators and it's amazing that the Patriots could possibly go into the postseason with the #3 seed. You can make the arguement that they play in a weak division, but I'll counter that by saying almost all of their cross-division games were played while injuries were at their worst and they managed a .500 record. Almost all of their divisional games have come at the end of the season as key players have begun to return, and these teams have been soundly trounced.
