Did a search, found nothing. Kinda surprised you guys let this one slide.

My opinion is based on the fact I am not a fan.
I think the NFL has a little too much power in controlling something thats theoretically a national pastime. Of course, if people insist on watching the Super Bowl just for the fucking commercials then I'd say its Americas fault for letting the NFL get away with over commercializing something to the point that the NFL is now its own worst enemy.
I think they should be considered 32 small businesses and if needed, should be broken up.

I have no idea how far this is in the Supreme Court. I know my mom is in the Supreme Court this week but thats for a different issue entirely. When searching for news I saw the NFL stuff, so I thought I'd post it.

It's funny that the article's title says "over-hyped', I've never heard of this fuss.

Meh, the NFL is a franchise, IMO they can exert power over things like caps etc.

Other franchises do the same thing. E.g., I owned a part of well-known pizza franchise. They control the signage, the napkins, the foods stuffs etc you purchase as an owner. They dictate who you buy from, and what it looks like (or is). It doesn't matter where your restaurant is located, they all have to conform to home office rules etc.

I don't see how the NFL is any different.

There are many pizza corporations and small businesses. There is only one football business (that I know of).

Oh, you wanna talk about whether or not they are a monopoly.

Meh, football is entertainment. A sports entertainment, we have all kinds of that (baseball, hockey, golf, basketball etc). So their sports entertainment product is football, well Apple's product is the mac and they're the only one selling that. Do they also have a monoply?

Then there's college football. An even bigger sports entertainment football product.

Then there's been other pro football leagues (is professional arena football still around?, aren't there semi-pro leagues around?), it's just that they sucked and folded. AFAIK, there's no law stoping anyone else from starting a new pro football league.

I think it's questionable as to whether or not they are a monopoly. They don't have a product anyone needs, and they have all kinds of competition (college football etc and other sports entertainment.)

Is the NBA etc a monopoly?
