Yea I think Sam would do fine on another team after the year he's had. His last 2 games didn't do him any favors in the confidence department but he should be able to shrug it off by next season and continue to play well if he's placed in a similar system. At minimum a solid backup. I'm not too familiar with the QBs coming out of the draft this year, but if a team could hold off, fill other needs and snag him for a year or two he'd be serviceable.
Unknowable how Darnold does elsewhere, or in the future. The smartest play is to give the Vikings a "team-friendly" deal that still compensates him well enough (see Geno Smith). If he again leads the team to the playoffs in 2025 with very solid play, he can easily ask for new money at any time.

The dumbest play would be to go to the Raiders for max money now, because he could be out of the NFL by the end of that contract. The grass isn't always greener on the other side; in fact, there's no grass in Las Vegas.

Unlike a year ago, this isn't considered a great year for QBs in the draft, and IIRC Darnold is now considered the top available QB in free agency.

Every franchise wants to have a top-tier QB, of course, but servicable is good. With so much mediocrity floating around (*cough* Dak), what you should be doing as a team is pleasing your fan base. Yeah, Darnold shit the bed pretty hard at the end. However, what's the alternative? Nah, he'll stay where he is and hopefully they can reverse those yips. The Vikings certainly wouldn't want Justin Jefferson to become disillusioned.

JJ McCarthy is a better prospect than anyone in the next draft. Darnold should get his money now and not settle for being a backup.

Speaking of Mark Davis and the Raiders of LV, this is too funny if true

So...they either drafted the correct player, but made a shitty pick and had to cut him a year later, or they drafted the wrong guy.

I'd call it a win-win for the rest of the nation laughing at the Raiders, but if you are a fan of the Raiders or were part of the Raiders organization, it's a definite lose-lose.

here are the picks of Round 2 of my playoff pool...always interesting to see the pick distribution (in this pool, 1st round games are 10 points each, 2nd round 20 points, 3rd round 30 points and the SB is 40 points).

God damn I hope the Commanders come out and shock the entire world tonight. I am so excited for this game but also so damn nervous/anxious about it. Win or lose it has been an unreal season and to think that this in theory is the worst talent (and not saying that in a bad way at all or disrespecting the current team - just being realistic) that JD5 will work with, makes me have a very positive outlook on the future of this team.

At this point I think an avatar change is needed for me. I may give it one more year but this does NOT feel like a fluke at all like it did with RG3's rookie year.

same feelings but from the other side from a long suffering Lions fan

I'm definitely not a proper Washington fan like you (Well, it kinda goes for all the teams, really), because while I'm pulling for them tonight, I wouldn't mind at all if Detroit wins. I think I want Detroit to win the SB more than any other outcome in the playoffs right now. (followed by, well, Washington or the Bills, probably tied. 😀)

and Jayden does look like the real deal compared to Bobert, who was certainly more electrifying that year, but played really really dumb. Jaden has the brains for this game above all else. ...I just really hope he puts on another 30+ lbs of muscle or something over the summer. He looks like a stick out there and watching him take off and not slide all the time makes me super nervous.

Even if the Lions beat us tonight, I will be rooting for them to win it all. You all have been through similar struggles and it's good to see the fanbase energized once again and them on the right path. I cannot hate on that at all.

RG3's year was just completely flukey. They had to win 6 or 7 games in a row to make it into the playoffs. I believe they were 3-6 the first 9 games and ended up 9-7. It sucked that he got injured though and we never really know what his true potential could be.

I also did not like RG3's attitude. He was such a diva and by year 2 it was apparent he thought he was gods gift to everyone. JD5 is the complete opposite from him so far. I love how humble he is and how focused he is. It is all about the team and not about him, the exact opposite of RG3.

Haven't decided who I'm pulling for in the Detroit-Washington game. I really wish Washington were playing either of the other two teams, because then it'd be easy.

Washington looked to have a pretty good start on both sides of the ball, and then that fourth down play looked like something out of a Peewee league.
