NFL 2009 Coach Death Watch

Alright so is Tom Cable or Eric Mangini next?

Cable will be gone for sure, but maybe not until the end of the season. I would bet Lerner will can Mangini as well, especially if the NFLPA's investigation yields something that can be used to fire him for cause.

I'm gonna bet on Tom Cable. Skeletor (Al Davis) has been getting more and more impatient in the past few years. Plus, Cable has had some other problems which have given the Raiders a lot of unwanted attention.

outside of making it to the nfc championship game, zorn is gone. depending on who the browns hire as head of football, mangini has something around a 10% chance of staying. cable is done, the only reason he hasn't been fired is davis finding a reason so he can fire him for cause to stiff cable his contract money, ala kiffin, shannahan, probably gruden etc...

Its confusing how Jaron keeps getting head coaching jobs in the first place. He's a high quality person, but his teams usually suck.

Cable is going nowhere!

Who is Al Davis going to hire to replace him?

A lot of the Raider Nation wwas hoping Jon Gruden might think of coming back but since he just inked a new deal with MNF - highly doubtful.

Cable has been praised by his players and Cable also is a good yes man to Al Davis. Raiders need to have a healthy O line for a change and make JaMarcus ride the pine for the rest of his career.

Exactly what I was going to note.

I don't think head coach of the Raiders is a position that has a lot of qualified people lining up to apply. Sure, there might be some college coaches who want to make a name in the NFL, but they're occupied for another few months.

My vote goes to Zorn unless the Redskins' win over Denver is the beginning of a streak.

let me just say, I'd almost be willing to bet my left nut that Cable doesn't keep the job through the postseason.

Eric Mangina
Tom Cable
Lovie Smith
Jim Zorn
Wade Phillips
Norv Turner
Rex Ryan should be for crying in front of his team after a regular season game

Apparently mangini just got the death notice. Browns owner sent a reply to a local reporter that the "plan" is to keep mangini as coach through the season.

Much truth to this. More importantly, Davis is clearly irrational these days, so who's to know what he's going to do? Logic may say Cable is gone, but logic no longer has a place in Davis's decision-making.

Edit: And yes, unless Zorn pulls a miracle out of his ear, he's gone at the end of the season.

Betting your left nut on predicting something Al Davis will do, other than taking the fastest 40 time in the draft, is insane.
