Hi everyone

I will try to make my problem as clear as possible.. If you have question please feel free to ask.

I just received today my 2 new raptor 150gb. I use them to replace my old raptor 74gb that I had in raid 0 wich never had any problems.

I unplugged my 2 raptors 74gb and replaced them with the 2 new raptor 150gb in my pc. I kept the same sata cables and used the same ports wich are on the NF4 controller and I have the latest official 623 bios

Boot my pc went in the NF4 raid controller version 4.84 and both drives are well detected. Then I setup my raid array (this is not the first time I did this... got raptors 36, 74 and now 150 in raid so I know how this works). I put it on stripping mode, then set the drives to boot then save and exit. Now the raid bios sees my array as a full 300gb disk.

Then I start installing windows wich has sp2 integrated. I press F6 at start. Then I load the 2 drivers for the sata raid. Then comes the hard part. After the 2 drivers load from the floppy, windows continues to load files and then right before that section finishes (before I get to the liscence aggrement and the page where you can partition youre drives and format) I get a BSOD telling me to make a chckdisk or that I may have a virus or something. Thats each and everytime.

After this I told myself this looks to be a driver conflict or something. I tried at least 4 different version of nf4 raid like the latest found in 6.70 the 6.53 and even the one I had on my original DFI cd that came with my board. Each time I had the exact same message BSOD.

Then after I tried a different floppy and a different floppy drive with the same result.

After this I disable raid in the bios and just tried to install windows on 1 drive. I did that with no hassle at all. Windows installed like a charm.

Then as my final test I told myself, uhmm I havnt installed windows in like 6 months at least. Lets try installing windows in raid with my old raptor 74. I plugged by my old raptors 74 in raid 0 using the same floppy raid drivers I had. And as you may guessed it, windows installed the raid without any problems at all. No BSOD. So my original hardware is not the problem.

So after all this testing I am asking myself what can be the probem. I am guessing its a controller/driver problem with the new raptors or something.

What do you guys think???

Any comment would be really appreciated

Thanks for youre time

Hi,

Ok I did something new this morning. I plugged in 4 of my raptors on the NF4 raid controller. I did 2 raid 0 array. One with the 74'S and one with the 150's. Now the good news is that this time I was able to get to the windows screen where I can partition my drives etc without BSOD on me. I saw my raptor 150 that were there and unpartitioned and unformated. Then I click to format them and this is what they say:

To install windows xp on the partition you selected setup must write some startup files to the following disk:

14186mb disk 0at ID 2 on bus 0 on nvraid (MBR)

However, this disk does not contain a windows xp compatible partition

To continue installing windows xp, return to the partition selection screen and create a windows xp compatible partition on the disk above. If there is no free space on the disk, delecte an existing partition, and then create a new one.

To return to the partition selection screen, press enter.

The 14186mb is my raptor 74 array so I dont know the relation. I mean why would windows need to write files to that array if I am installing windows on the raptors 150 array??

In order to get pass that message I had to create a partition on my raptor 74g array.

Then after clicking to install windows on partition C (raptor 250 raid). They ask me they will format partition D wich are the raptors 74g raid array.

At the moment its installing windows on the raptor 150 array.

I guess my problem is still no solved. I dont want to have raptors 74gb in my pc to install my raptor 150raid array everytime I want to install windows. Besides my raptor 74's are already sold.

Keep youre suggestions comming and thx

Ok windows installed without any problems on the raptor 150 raid array.

But the oddest thig happens. If I unplug my raptor 74 array I will get a disk boot failure and I cant boot into windows with my raptor 150.

The raptor 150 raid array is detected in my bios and is in the first boot device.

If I replug the raptor 74 array it loads xp without any problems. And I know I installed windows on the raptor 150 array.

Ok heres the thing.

When I get home tonight I will jus try to install windows with the raptors 150gb in raid 0 but using the silicon 3114 on my board instead of the nf4.

If windows installs this means one thing. Nvidia need to update either there drivers or the raid bios.

LMK what you guys think
