Anyone have the 9 or 7? Thinking about getting one but can't decide. Going to use it to read books, comics, manga, and as a remote to beam stuff to my TV. I was thinking the 7 since it's smaller and easier to hold in one hand. What you guys recommend? Not looking at apple tablets because I buy stuff off of google play.

Moved from OT.

I'm between a 7, 9 and Nvidia Shield myself (a wide range, I know). For your use case, the cost savings of a 7 would be pretty significant IMO.

I have the 2012 Nexus 7 which I have used mainly for reading with the Kindle app and comics using comic rack. I like it a lot because I can hold it in one hand and still navigate. I rooted it and put several different ROMs on it finally settling on Cyanogen Mod because the battery life is amazing. Leaving the WiFi on I can usually make it through two to three nights after work on a charge. With WiFi off I made it through a marathon 32 hour journey from Japan to Michigan without having to recharge. I can't say a lot about the 9 but for what its worth I think the 7 will save you money and accomplish all the tasks you require it to.

I sometimes (but not often) wish my 2013 N7 was bigger, but in truth it's perfect as a reader and for the occasional game or web visit. Once I have Lollipop on it, I expect it will be my last device for some time.

For reading I found the n7 difficult, especially for magazines. Just my opinion.
If you read a lot, go with the bigger screen.

Ditto. I have Zinio on mine, but never use it. My first tablet was a 10.1" Samsung, which I thought would be perfect for mag reading. I was wrong, and only kept it a week before returning it. Not a bad device (except for all the crap Samsung loads it up with), but for $300+, I couldn't justify its usefulness. So now my N7 fills in where my phone can't really go.
