HTC hasn't made a good tablet ever, and they love making their devices big and heavy. Plus not even Samsung or Qualcomm has A57 in production yet (the rumored 20nm Exynos seems to be a die-shrink of the current A15 versions). I'll reserve excitement until it's announced and specced.

What tablet has htc made besides the htc flyer which is damn old by now. (We are talking between ipad 1 and 2 old). Phablets do not count, I mean an actual tablet.

Right now, I think the best 8" tablet is the Tab Pro 8.4 ($330 at Amazon) so hopefully Google can deliver their 8" 2560x1600 tablet for less than $250-ish. Weight is also an important consideration. It should be 12oz or less.

The problem with the rumors is that no one has a 64-bit 5 watt cpu. Nvidia's 64-bit version of TK1 won't be out until Q4, while Qualcomm won't have their 64-bit flagship cpu until sometime in the first half of 2015. I don't know what Intel's time table is, but I am 95% sure they won't have a 64-bit mobile CPU until next year, either.

Hmm I think 9" might be on the big side. 8" is probably just right (iPad Mini), although the 16:9 or 16:10 resolution really does make reading webpages annoying. It's a tradeoff between media consumption and reading I suppose.

Yep. I really hope xaomi brings their 8" 4:3 TK1 tablet to the USA.

Intel has s 64 bit cpu out in the market right now (Though it is more of a windows chip). Android has no 64 bit os yet. Intel and oem partners announced cost cutdown baytrail chips called mooresfield running 32 bit android this week at computex. Mooresfield chips use powerVR graphics and will be trickling in over the next few months.

One of them is the asus memopad 8.

32 bit or 64 bit really doesn't matter at all right now to end users anyway. So either way, don't think I'll get excited.

2560x1600 display seems likely. Everyone is doing it now.

ASUS did an okay job on the first Nexus 7 and a great job on the second Nexus 7. If HTC is making the next Nexus tablet, I really hope they continue with the design that the Google/ASUS tablets have been using. The Nexus 7 2013 is probably the best tablet I've ever held in my hand. I really love that soft touch back. Hope they don't change that for the sake of change.

I think HTC could do a good job. Though I went to their website and see no tablets mentioned, so guess that's not something they've done in a while. But the HTC One phones seem to be very well made. And hopefully they'll put forward facing speakers on the Nexus tablet if they make it.

Android 5.0? I wonder. Could just as easily be Android 4.5. Dunno if Google really has anything so amazing that they want to bump up that first digit just yet.

I'm kinda hoping for an 8 inch display. I still want something really comfortable to use one handed. 8.4 and up kinda gets big using as an e-reader one handed.

It makes sense if Google wants to get the 64 bit train rolling on the dev side. A53/57 are still in the pipeline, Apple isn't selling Swift, which leaves us with... Bay Trail. Again, the design wins for Asus TF designs are telling.

That's fine as far as it goes, but the least exciting 64 bit option possible from the consumer perspective.

The Tab S 8.4" will be the same weight as the current Nexus 7... but I'm pretty sure a HTC-made Nexus 8 won't.
