Nexus 7 or iPad Mini

It all depends on what you're going to do with it.

If you do a ton of web surfing, the iPad mini is better because the screen is bigger and wider. If you game a lot, then the iPad has the better app ecosystem.

However, if you use the tablet for lighter browsing loads and more as an e-reader (ie. books), light youtube use, etc, I'd recommend the Nexus 7 as it has a better, sharper screen and is less wide, which arguably makes it easier and more comfortable to hold. The back material is easier to grip too.

Finally, if price is a factor, the N7 is obviously considerably cheaper. If you need more than 16GB, then the N7 is MUCH cheaper: $249 vs $429.

Holy! I didn't realize the price difference was that large. After tax, it's about $200 difference between the two tablets. Wow.

I don't think they'll have a retina iPad Mini until next fall at least. I really don't see one coming out before then as it just messes with the new product cycle that they've tried to establish. That the released a new version of the iPad is a pretty clear indication that they're moving the release schedule for the iPad line into the fall.

Why would I feel stupid? I like what I decided to buy and that's what matter to me. I'm not going to run right out and buy one with a retina screen just because it's the latest and greatest. When this one has served it's purpose I'll move on. It's really very simple. People who chase the latest and greatest technology have at it, I am not in that category.

its only going to a month of two. retina, esp on a mini tab, will make a huge difference. i dont think they have 60 day return policies, lol. youre gonna have tablet envy a month from now, and everyone will know you have the old version...

They will not be doing a retina any time soon, read anand's mini review to see why.

Get the iPad mini. Despite the bad screen, and icon-only operating system, it looks really nice in person. Really, the screen isn't nearly as bad as specs would lead you to believe.

I have a Nexus 7.
I went to Bestbuy and checked out the Mini for the first time.
The Mini to me is a perfect size tablet.
I have small hands and I was still able to grasp it with 1 hand.
There only 1 fault with the Mini and thats the screen.
I think I'm going to order a Mini anyway.

i'd probably say the mini - and trust me i hate myself for saying it.

Didn't think it was great after the announcement or reading reviews but after seeing it in person and feeling the weight definitely prefer it and the size seemed much nicer to me.

They won't release a new one till next announcement - i think they said the cycle is now the same with the iphone? cant confirm this though . But considering the cellular mini's aren't even out (here in aus) i doubt a retina will be out in 2 months

Well, about a week into my Minni ownership I have to say that I am loving this device, even with the screen. This coming from an old half blind guy. lol
