This is why i have a full leather case encapsulating my entire tablet. The nice thing is, you aren't out like $500 like you would be with an ipad.

Look on the bright side. You can now fix the screen lift problem. 😛:awe: Seriously, that sucks. I know that feeling all too well having dropped phones and tablets. Since the Nexus 7 is pretty new product, I assume replacement glass is harder to source and pretty pricey, no?

Based on where his N7 made impact, an iPad's screen would have probably been undamaged.

Sucks OP.

Ohh man that sucks and I know the feeling.I dropped my GS3 two days after paying full retail and cracked the screen.

My friend works at Verizon and got me a warranty threw globule warranty and paid 80 down and 75 for a new cell and I have 2 more claims left.

Depending on how much you paid it might not be worth going threw insurance though.

I'm not normally a grammar nazi, but your post conjured up this feeling:

Cringe. Sorry man.

The screen no longer works with touch input. I haven't tried a USB keyboard, but of course, it's pointless to have a tablet that only works with an external keyboard. So, I don't know what to do with it. Sell it for parts? I probably wouldn't bother fixing it, because it's only CAD$259 to begin with and the silver outer rim has a crack in it. I'm not sure a replaced screen would even stay properly in place unless I replaced part of the case too.

So, I wonder how much I could get for it, assuming it still works with a keyboard. $50?

Luckily there is no shortage of units in stores now. I just went and picked up another one.

I guess the very small bit of good news is that the new one I just picked up doesn't have the screen lift... yet. I'm now on my fourth Nexus 7. Somebody up there just doesn't like me having the Nexus 7 or something like that.

#1. Screen lift.
#2. Screen lift.
#3. Eug was an idiot and dropped it.
#4. Fingers crossed.

This is all in one month.

But you are ignoring the aerodynamics and weight distribution of each device. If he dropped his N7 and ipad from the same distance and same orientation they would have made impact in another spot.😛

P.S. That white bar in the pic is not a defect. It's just the glare from the overhead fluorescent light.

Oh and I had already ordered a sleeve for it off eBay weeks ago, but it hasn't arrived yet. I think the sleeve would have helped. It was on a side table and slipped off onto my carpet, and was totally fine.

Looks like the screen is still intact. Looks in good working order. I bet you could get like 80-100 on ebay for it.

Screen is intact for display, but there are cracks in the overlying glass, and the touch input doesn't work.

I guess the silver lining is I now have another $25 in Google Play credits, and another 2A charger. 😛

Reinstalling everything is a waste of time though.

Committing insurance fraud is a thing to be proud of?

Sell it on eBay it's worth something to somebody. If just the screen is wacked the guts still have value. I'm sure somebody could frankenstein it back to life for some purpose or another.

Why would you reinstall everything?

Just use MSkip's Nexus 7 Toolkit and backup everything so you can easily restore your apps. It is free too but he will gladly accept donations for extra features.

Insurance is Legal Fraud anyway. You can never get most of them to pay out for legit claims.

Power to the people.
No one held a bullet to their heads and forced those people to signup for it.
Cell phone insurance, extended product warranties, life insurance(especially whole life and universal) are some of the biggest scams in the industry.

If you want real "Power to the people", tell your people to stop purchasing the scam insurance products in question in the first place or use an American Express card which gives an extra year warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty for free to purchase their electronics.
