Trying to get my crack screen replaced and basically everyone off ebay tells me if its a LG E960, it will work. Are there more than 1 nexus 4 made by LG or they just have no idea ?

The issue is one screen I tried, the proximity sensor on the top left wont work on the aftermarket screens. It turns off the screen when you make a call but its not up near your ear. I dl a sensor reader and compared original and after market screen and it seems like its being blocked.

or is there a more reliable place to buy a nexus 4 replacement screen ?

trying to keep it low cost because the phone is basically really cheap but I just need it for work

To clarify further, you are changing just the digitizer+LCD assembly and not the metallic housing? Did you try this before gluing in the LCD+digitizer?

You should compare the transparency of the glass where the proximity & light sensors are placed. I heard of people having this issue before, but personally I replaces about 5 Nexus 4 screens and never had an issue with it.

I bought the entire assembly so its just a quick screen swap, so no gluing, etc. I though about drilling that corner hole out completely so the sensor sees it better.. hahaaha probably a bad idea.

the problem is i can't look at the screen without buying it so it would be a cost issue shipping screens back and forth.

Ok.
I always bought the LCD+digitizer only and glued it in myself.
Check if the glass has 2 transparent dots where the proximity and light sensor are located or if something is stoping the light in general. Check also if the brightness sensor works as you would expect.
