nexus 4 + data connectivity

Last couple of days my data connectivity has been spotty. Normally, the icon in the top right is blue colored with a H above it. What happens is it'll stay gray and the H will flash on and off every 5 seconds or so. And data doesn't work. First couple of times, I power cycled the phone and it worked again. This last time, I put it in airplane mode and then off and it fixed it. Is this a common problem? If not, is there a way I can get some diagnostic log messages about the connection?

Check to see if the SIM is sliding out, then (if not) try testing with a replacement SIM from your carrier. Otherwise, I'd look at RMA...

Straight Talk (using an AT&T sim).

I'll check the sim card but when this is happening, I'm still able to make phone calls. Just the data dies until I either power cycle it or turn airplane mode off and on

Hows the coverage in your area

It just happened again. I wonder if it's related to the wifi connection. It seems to happen when I have wifi and the data turned on and I disable wifi. Had to airplane mode cycle it to get it to reconnect

I an having something similar to the op data behavior. On T-Mobile nexus 4 new Sim cut from T-Mobile. Data just lingers in the grey and does not connect... Then resolves itself after a time. WiFi is also kind of spotty at times.

Post your APN settings.

When I was on Straight Talk a while back I was getting problems. I solved the problem by leaving the "proxy" field in APN settings completely blank(despite the guide on Howard Forums stating that one should fill it out with that "http://tracphone" stuff).

the grey bars means no connection to google services. i'd be more worried about APN at this time than anything.

Not sure about you guys but the SIM tray is tight on the Nexus 4. Don't see how the SIM slides out that easily. Plus that's not really a big issue for most people I'm pretty sure.
