Nexus 10 vs Nexus 7

Has anyone tried both? I have the 7 and like it, but I'm still not sure if I'd be better off with the 10.

Well for starters the 5 MP (main) camera is a Plus... 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution for 300 ppi is nice...

Micro USB
Magnetic Pogo pin charger
Micro HDMI

I wonder is that like the apple charger? Where you just snaps in by itself to charge?

Also, what's with the micro hdmi? I assume you can hook this up to you TV. It would be nice to use my tablet with a wireless USB keyboard to use as my multi-media box instead of using my Laptop that I keep on 24hours a day.

I still have another year on to go on my magic jack before I decide I want to upgrade to the MJ+ or some other device that just hooks into the network. I'm even looking at the new "STREAMS" box that will be running linux... Even tho my laptop uses AMD's E350 APU that sucks up 18 watts. I'm thinking a tablet will consume much lower wattage.

I'm still happy with my 7" nexus tho. Probably won't upgrade till August after MJ sub ends.

A lot of android devices support micro HDMI. You can plug it into your TV and either use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse or just use the touch interface.

I bought my GF a Nexus 7 32GB and it's ok, I prefer the larger format of my iPad2 though. I want to check out the Nexus 10 and see how it feels. I'd like to use an Android tablet, but all the other tablets I've tried just don't feel "right" They are almost all "widescreen" which I hate.

I'd pick the 7 over the 10. I find 10 inch tablets too big to use comfortably and be portable with unlike the smaller 7. The micro HDMI is basically DOA because the soft nav buttons do not disappear when playing movies on the TV (unlike say with the Nexus 4 where they do go completely away).

Let us know what you think DeLerium. I'm more concerned with the size difference, performance, and screen. I don't care about HDMI out or portability, this stays at my house. I'm curious about how comfortable it is to hold while on the couch, in bed, etc...

Never buy a tablet for specs. There aren't enough tablet apps for Android to justify the $400 price for the Nexus 10.

TheVerge says consider the $100 premium on the iPad a ticket to enter a nice large selection of tablet oriented apps.

But at the same time the ability to dump movies & TV Shows onto the Nexus 10 is nice too.

At this point, I would not be surprised that there are more tablet-oriented Windows 8 apps than there are Android apps, which is why I think Android tablets are toast.

The only time Android tablets are toast is when Surface tablets cost $200-400 MSRP, which will never happen given that Microsoft is charging OEMs $95 per license.

7-8" > 10" tablets.
I can hold the Nexus 7 comfortably with one hand forever...10" tablets, not so comfortable.

If all this tablet is going to do is sit on your kitchen or dining table, then go with the 10" tablet.

So do you walk around and read with a 7" tablet? just curious

Is this the new overhyped, panicked argument for 2013, like fragmentation or GPU rendered UI or malware? Google own VPs stated flatly they didn't want tablet specific apps, rather, they wanted apps that worked seamlessly on both. And for the most part, they've succeeded.

To the OP, it depends what you want to do with the tablet. They are devices for media consumption primarily. My 7in, 8.9in, and 10in tablets all have a purpose and use. Debating whether to replace the Infinity Pad with a Nexus 10 myself.

Absolutely not.
I don't even do that with my phone, why would I do it with a tablet?
I've seen and heard enough stories about people getting killed, run over by vehicles and trains, or walking into a ditch all because they were too stupid to pay attention to where they were walking to while on Facebook or Twitter.

He mentioned "how comfortable it is to hold" as an important feature to him, so why not get a 7-8" tablet?

I had some trouble deciding on which one. It seems to me that you get more hardware for your money's worth with Nexus 10 (if you compare 16 GB versions), but I wasn't sure whether Android was ready for 10" screen. Also I have an iPad which belongs to the same category as Nexus 10, so I was more inclined to a smaller tablet. Another thing was Nexus 10's aesthetic. It just didn't look pretty in pics.. I do not know if it looks better in person but I thought its design wasn't on the "sleek" side (esp. those curves).

Another factor was that I wanted to try out Android, having no prior experience of it. $400~500 was much higher expense than $200~250 (plus I've got $25 credit) for something basically unknown to myself, so in the end my decision went to Nexus 7. I do not regret the choice at this time.

The one think that would get me to buy a 10 in. tablet is magazine and/or book reading. I subscribe to four different mags now, and I can see reading them on a larger tablet. Still, it's a lot of money for reading and the occasional web browsing.

Do you have to ask? Of course it is.

It sucks that Pulse destroyed their Android tablet version though, probably to keep it in line with iOS.

I use both regularly. It really depends on what your priorities are.

The 10 is more unwieldy but comics look absolutely amazing on it. I prefer to browse on the 10 as well since you can fit a lot more readable text onscreen. That 2560x1600 display is something else.

Honestly I look at that as either reading paperback or hardcover. So, if you don't like reading paperback then you should probably go with the 10". Someone made a great point that the 7" would be a lot easier to deal with while on the move, though.

I bought the Nexus 7 due to its size...I dont want to lug a larger tablet around with me...happy with the Nexus 7 so far...speaker is questionable though.

I love the size of my Nexus 7. It's the perfect device to read on and not too big to play some decent games. I wouldn't update to the Nexus 10.

Besides, if I did go with a tablet with a bigger screen, I'd go with the ipad.

I have the 10 but its awkward to hold I suppose (esp in portrait). Getting the 7 tomorrow and I can compare. I do like the 10 overall though. Wish it had more apps.

I don't find it awkward to hold it portrait at all.

I debated hard about buying the Nexus 7. I really wanted to buy it due to it's size but found the text to be too small in portrait and in landscape the browsers should so little content, I waited for the Nexus 10.

With the Nexus 10, unless I'm watching media, I'm pretty much always in portrait mode.
