I read somewhere that you get a free google voice invite when signing into your gmail account on your Nexus 1. I have set up the google voice program in the phone, but it only transcribes emails. It doesn't actually give me a phone # that I can make calls from. Does anyone know how to get that working properly? Maybe I actually need a real google voice invite and that isn't one?

What happens when you log in to the web interface at google.com/voice? Does it show a phone number next to your username at the top right?

I think when I got an invite, over a month ago, it gave 2 options. 1. voicemail or 2. phone number.

I say go with BigSmooth's suggestion and see what you are set up as by visiting their website.

If you're looking for an invite, PM me your email. I've got a few invites to hand out.

Ya, I think I need one cause I never chose a phone #.

Did you login to your account? Go into your voicemail settings. If an account is setup without a number, there will be an option on that page to pick a number.
