Hello everyone,

As you may or may not know, Nextel has moved some of its internet services from the basic package to the online plus package - a $10 price increase. I called to complain and they upgraded me for free. Not only that but I mentioned that I was thinking about switching to another provider as there were some really good deals going on and they sweetened my package a bit. I got an additional 200 minutes cellular per month and unlimited direct connect added as a bonus to keep me as a customer. They also mentioned $75 off a new phone when I asked for a free phone........ I declined the $75 discount as my phone is only abour 6 months old as it is.

Looks like now may be a good time to call and see what they can do for you today.

I BELIEVE ABOUT $35 / MONTH X2 LINES.

I'm on a shared rate plan which is 69.99 for two phones. 1000 N&W, 800 Anytime and 400 direct connect minutes. Free LD and no roaming (I think).

Do you have a one year contract with them? Can you really call and threathen to switch providers if you are in a like a one year contract with them?

So you can get Nextel plans without signing a contract then? I thought being locked into a one year contract takes away most of your rights to complain, since you have to pay a set monthly fee no matte what and threatening to cancel will hurt you more (huge cancellation fees) than them...?

I just switched my plan from...

300 anytime + 200 bonus = 500 anytime
Unlimited Direct Connect
Free Long Distance
voicemail
caller ID

$59.95 or something......$71 after taxes and that crap.

NEW PLAN

300 anytime + KEEP THE 200 bonus minutes = 500 anytime
200 minutes Direct Connect <---- This kinda sucks, but he explained the DC system regarding the 6-second lag time and who gets charged for the call, and I have only ever used like 180minutes of DC.
3500 Night and weeked minutes
Free Long Distance
Voicemail + $.50
Caller ID + $.50

TOTAL = $39.99 + $1.00 for VM and CID = $41.00

I'm pretty happy with this, wish the DC was about 400 minutes but oh well, I will just call them on my normal minutes :) He said there was a 1-year service agreement, and I asked how I "accpet" the agreement and he said I accepted it by switching to the plan...HAHAHAHA....that won't hold for jack if I ever decide to drop this plan, they would never see their money. Unless they have my signature they can kiss my ***

I had Nextel for a while. They used to have a cool service plan that if you served a 1 year agreement, you will never have to serve another contract again. This allowed you to keep switching to all of their promotions with no consequences. I don't know if they still do that

Nextel has great phones too :)

I have this plan that i signed back in Dec. 2001 for $49.99/month:

Traveler 400

Includes the following options:
400 anytime digital cellular minutes
4500 night and weekend minutes
100 Nextel Direct Connect ®
Nationwide Long Distance included

However, when i sign up, they have the promotion for 100 additional minutes for anytime which i will have 500 minutes/month.
For some unknown reason, they just give me 200 Direct Connect and Unlimited night and weekend.

Hello,
I'm a nextel CCR (CCR 3), I'm the one they put on the phone when you ask for a sup/manager... Anyways, I'f you change your rate plan with nextel, you automatically renew your service agreement. (Think new 1yr contract) Also BE ADVISED nextel ccr's are being replaced by teletech ccr's... What this means to the cust is...there are going to be more stupid reps, there is going to be more mis-information, there is going to be quite a few reps who just dont give 2 shakes of a fuzzy rate a$$ (including me) so the bottom line is that if you are changeing your rate plan, and are not advised of the new 1yr service agreement, we will still charge you 200$ if you were to deact your unit. We can do this, read your nextel manuel under the contract/terms of agreement....

anyways, just a heads up,
and also realize that if you ask for a mgr/sup the person getting on the phone is less prone to give you a credit/or whatever else you want... work it out with the ccr 1st as they will do anything to get you off their line, including xfering you to a mongolian goat farmers home phone...I've done that b/4 :) .

So if I'm in a one year contact with Nextel, I can call and just complain about how my plan sucks and then just ask for some free minutes or a new phone? I tried doing that with Cingular and the lady just told me that she was sorry to hear that I was dissatisifed.

2 plans you might not see to encourage java programming on their capable phones. not sure if you are required to actually have a java enabled phone tho

Premium Standard Data
Monthly Access Charges $39.99 $29.99
Cellular Included Minutes 500 100
Additional Cell Minutes $0.35 $0.35
Long Distance Minutes $0.15 $0.15
Dispatch Included Minutes 100 100
Additional Private/Group Minutes $0.15 $0.15
Voicemail Included Included
Text Messages Included 300 300
Additional Text Messages $0.10 $0.10
Nextel Online Plus Unlimited Unlimited
Two Way Messaging Unlimited Unlimited
Tethered Packet Data (Routable IP)-Kb 450 175
Additional Kb $0.10 $0.10
Circuit Data/Dial-up Included Included
Caller ID Included Included

To become eligible for these plans you must register as a developer @ http://developer.nextel.com/

this replaces your existing plan, or add 20$ to add the data options if you wanna keep your plan. downside (well for me since i have national connect 300) is that you apparently lose free long distance and i dont see 3way or forwarding there either. i think im gonna do it anyways for the extra 200 min and online junk. i just picked up the i85s and am lubbin it =D

The nextel Employee rate plan aint all that good.....
we get 250 peak, 1k n/w also be advised nights START at 9:00 P b/4 4/15 they started at 8:00 P.
Ld is 5c a min, and unlmited dispatch....
FYI try to dispatch other states. in Colorado, you can raido Utah, WY.
Eventually we will have National Direct connect, meaning you can raido some one in Hawaii, from Ny. no LD fees either....
