Next year is gonna be fun!

Well school is almost over (Finals start tomorrow), but today was step-up day.

I'll be a Junior next year, but because I am teh typical nerd (not really, I'm just really smart), I am taking 4 Senior classes, two of which are AP (Advanced Placement).

I'm taking AP Bio, AP Calculus, Advanced Math (honors), Honors Physics, U.S. Hisotry (honors--seeing a trend here? ), Latin and Spanish (gotta take the languages).

Yeh, mah schedule is harder than just about all of the seniors--I'm one of few that are taking both maths and both sciences available to seniors. AP Bio is supposedly a seniors only course, but they let me in cause I skipped a year in both math and science (wow... I'm a nerd!)

Anyways, my social calendar will have to take a break next year because I'll be too busy with homework.

Considering dropping AP Bio and taking an English first semester than Chorus.

Considering I didn't do so well in Honors Bio my freshman year, I think this would be the logical choice. I'd rather not die my Junior year--but I do kinda want to take it. Any thoughts? Dunno how well I can handle doing Track (XC and outdoor) and then Basketball in teh winter and two AP classes.

Anyone taken this kinda stuff in HS and actually survive? Think I should drop AP Bio and actually have a life?

Here's a clue for when you go to college: none of these classes you're taking now will help you out that much. I didn't do jack squat my senior year in HS and just had a blast. Nobody really cares what gpa you get in high school anyways. I never brag about my 4.2 gpa in high school because nobody in college cares anyways.

I took 5 APs my senior year and it wasn't *that* hard. I also worked and had a gf. Spend less time telling yourself how hard it is going to be and you'll do fine.

Its a piece of cake. Just work on each subject a few minutes each day and you can pass with no problems.

Now college is something to look foward too.

Yeh good point. I really would like to take Bio, but the text book is incedibly intimidating.

I know GPA really doesn't matter that much, but colleges like to see you taking the most challenging stuff, I hear.

i have friends who got college credit for ap classes and therefore skipped a class in college but got reamed in the next class. Some proffessors go over things that ap classes dont.

This is very true. I took ap calc in hs, but was smart enough to take calc I in college anyways just to get the easy A and I ended up learning stuff I needed for calc II.

You think thats bad? THis is my curriculum from this year:
Pre-Calc Honors, US History Honors, Engineering in Electronics and Robotics, AP Computer Science AB, AP Physics B, English Honors

Next Year (senior year):
AP Calculus BC, AP Economics (taking both tests), Government, AP Physics C, AP Bilogy, AP English, and some other AP's I'm forgetting. I dropped the foreign language thing

oh yeah, i'm graduating high school this year... and i'm gonna miss it soo much.

Try to enjoy Senior year. It has possibly been the greatest one year of my life.

To see it end is a little depressing...but oh well - i had the time of my life!

It depends, what kind of college are you looking at? If you really want to go to a really good school and think you can handle taking a heavy load THEN DEFINITELY DO IT. It's actually very doable, I know many people who have and I did it when I was in hs. BUT if you don't think you'll manage with getting all As or whatever you are aiming for, then don't do it. It looks better if you get all As in normal classes then to get Bs and Cs in honors or AP classes.

If you just want to go to some state school or some place that you are shoe in to get in...then enjoy life and just take it easy. If you are looking for scholarships and stuff to pay for college, those don't reallly look at GPA usually. They count more in your extra curricular activites and test scores (namely PSAT).

My senior year I took all AP and honors classes. It wasn't that big of a deal really. But it depends on school and your personal time management.

Exempting college classes is worth it assuming that you aren't doing much with the courses that you do exempt. But for example, if you plan on majoring in Chemistry then I wouldn't really recommend exempting even intro chem in college. Some people do it and are fine, but like one of the above posts mentions, many college professors hit on things that AP classes don't touch; that, and it never hurts to hear and learn the same information twice as far as remembering it goes.

Environmental Science AP, Chem AP, US History AP, Trig Honors, English Honors and Japanese for me.
