I voted 939 FX/Hammer. Allthough I might go Dual Core aswell. My next upgrade will be around mid 05. We'll see what has happend upto then.

I will wait till some real A64 motherboard come out in 939 form with PCIe and rock solid sound solution. There is a lot of change in the wind. ATi, nvidia and Via all have new chipsets coming. After all the reveiws are in I buy the best feature and stability wise from either ASUS/ABIT or DFI.

Coupled with the cheapest 939 chip, looks to be a 1.8Ghz winchester aka A643000, and slam it to 2.8ish on water.

A64 939 .09 low end whenever someone can build a board to catch my fancy. Toss in some PCI Express slots and I may even get a new eye candy card. Money set aside for months now :disgust: and growing stale. Until then, trusty P4 2.4C well oc'ed w/ a lowly 9800np.

CelronD's aka Deleron (shot out Zap) is not terrible. It's better than the tbred based AMD Semprons in most tasks.

The Paris Semprons will destroy it though since all it is, is a cut A64, at a cheaper price.

what are you talking about? Socket 940 is the server socket for Opteron chips... I'd think that if 940 goes, so would 939, what is to repalce it?

If anything is being phased out its clearly Socket 754
