"Official" word (that I can find no links for so far, but it IS official) is that:
[*]It will be set in the "Original Series" era (apparently, the wild success of the Enterprise eps "In a Mirror Darkly" and the DS9 ep "Trials and Tribble-ations" has clued someone at Paramount into the fact people LIKE that era with modern effects)
[*]It will feature an entirely new cast - none of the aging (and overpaid) actors from any other series

Could be interesting!

did you see riker and troy in the last ep of enterprise? they were fat pigs. it would be a nice thought, but it would all be a bunch of fat sows running a starship. how would you explain a fat a$$ android anyway? 😛

Patrick Stewart was perhaps the best actual actor to ever lead a 'Trek' series and did a very good job.

That said....yeah, they ARE all getting kinda old and fat.

Firefly > Star Trek

Star Trek XI

Any other Movie series as high???

James Bond has 21. . . Friday the 13th . . . 10 or 11 I think.

What we really need is an entire series based on Tribbles.
Tribble Trek, the fuzzy generation.

it would be over after 4 episodes, as the tribbles would have multiplied enough to take over the universe.

Honestly... the last good star trek thing...
was the wrath of kahn in good old 79.... except for maybe the voyager finally... showed a slight bit of encouragement.

I'm guessing you didn't catch the two-parter 'Enterprise' episodes "In a Mirror Darkly".

If not - DO SO NOW (blue frog, if ya know what I mean). They are quite standalone as they are set entirely in the 'mirror universe' - no crossover whatever, so if you've seen no other 'Enterprise' eps, they'd still make sense. And are WORTH CHECKING OUT.

Some of the best Trek that's been out in a while.
