It's Sunday and i thought "What would be next Navi?" so i made one how i think it should be:

Name: 5900XT
Video Memory: 8/16GB DDR6
Compute Units: 64
Base Freq: 1400 Mhz
Game Freq: 1500 Mhz
Boost Freq: 1600 Mhz
Peak Fill-Rate: 160-170 GP /s
Peak texture Fill-Rate: 400 GT/s
Half-Precision CP: 27 TFLOPs
Single-Precision CP: 13 TFLOPs
ROPs:96
Stream processors: 4096
Texture Unis: 240
Transistor Count 16 B
2 Fan Configuration: Yes
Power Usage: 275W
Suggested price: 599$

So about 30% faster than 5700XT more or less.

RX 5900 = Navi10 x 2, 384bit with faster gddr6 (except ROPs obviously, i doubt they will do 512bit)
RX 5800 = Navi10 x 1.5

Assuming they improve efficiency on RDNA2 further and it would scale.

Its more likely that we are going to get lower level cards first, rather than 5800 or 5900. I predict RX 5600 line in 2-3 months, followed by RX 5500 line few months after, and then possibly RX 5800/5900 in early 2020.

Do you mean CU count/size, or dual Navi 10 GPU?

RDNA2 I think will be Arcturus and will be another significant shift to the architecture, unless Navi 2x is the "real Navi", and Acturus is actually them splitting HPC/gaming GPU, and so it is their Vega replacement. That might be interesting.

Yeah I wouldn't expect higher end Navi until next year.

I still personally have a hunch that Navi 20 might be mGPU. However, I'm starting to wonder if gaming GPUs might not go that route for a longer time, but we might see them go that way with the HPC/compute focused ones first.

AMD has a chance to take the performance crown from Nvidia but it's a large defecit to make up so it depends on how big of a die they are making. Since the 2080 TI is 25% more power efficient than Navi 10, it needs to be BIG and WIDE so AMD isn't forced to clock it way past it's perf/w curve like Navi 10 is.

50% more cores and bandwidth probably won't cut it, considering the 2080 TI is more than 50% faster....

I would like to think something should come about that isn't touching the 2080 ti but at least will overcome even the upcoming 2080 Super but cost in the ballpark area of $700 at most. Better then 2080 Super performance but not hitting the 2080ti unless its just one insanely large die.

Not seeing a 5900 touch a 2080 ti in all honestly. Tviceman has a point, it's gonna be a whopper of a die if it had a chance of dreaming of touching a 2080 ti.

It'll probably be 64CU but it should be wider. 80 if possible. Otherwise the power draw will be too high and 300W will not be worth it. If it is 64CU, I'm not sure what they're doing. $700 wouldn't be worth the extra R&D, validation, lower yields. Just sell more 5700(XT) instead.

Well, we already know that the smaller Navi is coming in sept/oct time frame. The larger Navi will be next year most likely, but I think any sort of guessing at this point is just that.

Amd will (allegedly) separate their graphic-card architectures with Arcturus for compute and RDNA (2) for gaming.

Tomshadware: AMD Arcturus Is Probably a Vega-Based Professional GPU

AMD Sends Out Linux Graphics Driver Patches For "Arcturus" As New Vega Derived GPU

phoronix said:
Arcturus appears to be a forthcoming Vega workstation "Radeon Instinct" type offering we'd be could be announced at SIGGRAPH or Hot Chips based on the timing. Digging through this code drop today, it further points at a compute accelerator without any 3D support, "It's because Arcturus has not 3D engine."

Arcuturus isn't a small change over Vega 20 but amounts to 102 patches to the AMDGPU kernel driver and 100,491 lines of new code.

According to AMDGPU kernel driver commits it seems Arcturus is based on Vega and it have 8192 SPs (128CUs), so AMD has been right - there is no hard limit for CU count in GCN ISA based uarch.

I'm just hoping they move the price/performance needle a little more. Still nothing to make me want to upgrade my 1080. It has been so stagnant for awhile with GPUs. I'm hoping we start seeing cards that can handle 4k/144hz.

Dang... Arcturus will be a beast for compute! I guess this will be for datacenters and productivity. Now that AMD is on 7nm, their dies are smaller so they can finally scale up the CU count. Vega was a pretty big die for AMD, they couldn't double the CU count on that node, now with 7nm and smaller, it seems there is a lot more flexibility in scaling.

As for next Navi, I would assume the same, now that the 40CU navi is so small, I could see a 64CU, maybe a 80CU, and maybe a dual 80CU card? A board partner already trademarked all the way up to 5950XT.... But it seems that dual cards (crossfire) seem to be depricated now, so perhaps the 5950XT is just going to be the beast 80CU card?

For gaming arch, it really comes down to a front end that scales beyond 4 shader engines and 64 ROPs.

For compute, I'm sure a limited front end with a massive shader array would work just fine (a la Vega).

The title says: "Next Navi GPU specifications(hypothetical!)"

And nobody is actually talking about Next Navi GPU, only about the one that comes after the next Navi GPU...

5900?
5% faster than a 2080super for 50$ less, but by the time the 5900 releases (6 months) the super will have a price cut to match it.

Would be nice to have another card that can come close to a 2080 TI. I got my doubts about the 2080 Super ever having a price drop. If performance matches or beats it then perhaps the 5900 will be cheaper.

2080 super performance should expected from AMD for $500 but AMD is a company and companies like to maximise profit so here's 5900XT for $649 6 months after launch of the competition at higher power draw and crappy blower cooler and driver issues. Cry in a corner and curse PC gaming.

Navi 12, 4096 ALUs.

And this is not even the biggest Navi GPU.

Yeah hearing this now. If Navi 12 with 4096 sp is not the biggest die then AMD must make some serious power optimizations both from a uarch and physical design point of view to fit a 5120 sp GPU in a 300w TDP. If AMD can deliver a card even 10-15% faster than 2080 Ti that will be an achievement. But then Nvidia will have a GA104 with 4096 cc, better SM perf, better color compression and 256 bit G6 mem bus which will be a bit faster than GT102. So in effect AMD's best GPU would still be competing with the 104 series GPU. Let see how Nvidia 7nm Ampere shapes up and also what response AMD has with RDNA 2. Exciting times ahead. We could see competition return like in the good old days of ATI and Nvidia.

Bretty optimistic.

I too am eager to see nV being burned on the stake by x86 vendors, but eh.

I think you are right, they save the best for last so you buy them all.
