Press Release - I assume they are going to concentrate on kid friendly songs with LEGO Rock Band and I can see that with the five songs below with maybe the exception of the Pink song.

Which will sell more? Beatles Rock Band or Lego Rock Band?

Hopefully these songs remain compatible with the current Rock Band platform. If this gets me The Final Countdown in Rock Band, I'm all for it!

I'm banking on them making these tracks as DLC for the other versions of the game as well.

Blur: ?Song 2?
Carl Douglas: ?Kung Fu Fighting?
Europe: ?The Final Countdown?

Pretty awesome. Europe would be hilarious to play.

Maybe. If this is an "expansion" like all the million GH games, and you can't incorporate the songs into Rock Band 2, then I would say yes. Because, that would defeat one of the main appeals of the whole "Rock Band as a platform" promise they made.

Whoever Lego has working for their PR department is doing a great job...

"George Lucas, you know what would be awesome? Star Wars...but...LEGOS! And why not throw in Indiana Jones into the mix!!"

one year later...

"DC Comics, know what would be awesome...Batman...but...with LEGOS!"

one year later...

"Harmonix, know what would be awesome...lets make a Rock Band game, but instead of people on stage lets use LEGO people!!!"

Up next...

"Rockstar, know what would be awesome. Grand Theft Auto: Legos!!!"

Yeah, I'll probably end up getting this for my son just for Kung Fu Fighting and The Final Countdown alone.

It's funny to one day hear your almost 7-year old son belting out "IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!" out of the blue.

MTV may have rated the worst song of all time... but it's going to really tempt me to buy this game.

Blatant commercial cash in with no respect to the art form? Check.

Harmonix taking a page out of Neversoft's playbook, not quite. Neversoft's cash ins are based on bands and music, not toys.

This stuff isn't up to Harmonix and Neversoft... it's MTV and Activision.

This isn't even being developed by Harmonix, they're doing the Beetles game.

Yeah MTV is milking the shit out of the franchise just like Activision did with Guitar Hero.

This is actually worse, GH Metallica was pretty well received by the media and GH Greatest Hits is an awesome idea but I have little hope for LEGO Rock Band, it just doesn't sound like it'll work at all and it'll probably be pretty easy and simplified so kids have more fun with it.

How dare they market a video game to kids!

I have no problem with it... it might not appeal to the already established hard core rock band fan.... but nobody is requiring us to buy it. However, my kids already enjoy seeing me play rockband and guitar hero and my daughter loved watching me play (and even playing along with a little bit) the Lego Star Wars game.... I think this sounds like a good family game as opposed to most games for the xbox (i.e. games for ME.. lol). I don't want to see the franchise turn to making everything like this, but I have no issue with them making a game like this. And even if it is a cash grab, who cares... when you have a great product you can get away with that every now and then. That's why they are in business.

Yeah, I think ultimately this is just the gateway introduction of Rock Band to younger kids. Make it a little easier and goofier with Lego stuff and silly mini-games and the kids will grow up wanting to try the more mature versions of Rock Band. My son wore the crap out of the on SpongeBob song I bought for him yesterday so the market is definitely there.

Check out the LEGO Rock Band Listing from Xbox.com.

* Songs you know and love: Rock out to everything from current radio hits to past favorites the whole family will enjoy.
* LEGO-themed rock challenges: Play killer riffs to destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper using the power of rock!
* Enhanced customizer: Don't stop with your avatar, customize your whole entourage! Design the band, roadies, and manager just the way you want.
* Build fame LEGO-style: Collect LEGO bricks after each song to build cooler vehicles and move to new venues.
* LEGO rock den: Buy furniture, decorate the walls and customize your band's hang-out as you climb the ladder to rock success.
* Fun for everyone: Turn down the difficulty with an easier skill set option for budding musicians.

And after that. Sony, you're done with God of War III, I think we should follow up with some plastic chain blades of death...Lego style!

Vivid, your "actors" are half plastic anyway, I say it's time for the full monty and go totally plastic with your next film!
