There's nothing wrong with my eyes, or my judgement, as you've just proven.

Here:

"On the Corolla comparison, the Jetta V is quite a bit larger and there are details you aren't seeing in this fuzzy photo that would look a lot better in person - the shoulder line from front to rear blending into the trunk, the detailed tailamps and curves to the trunk and more. We'll have to wait for official photos before we can make final judgements, but it is definitely different."

I really hope they can improve on this design before NAIAS 2005, although I seriously doubt it will change much in that time.

I see the hate for VW around here still lives on. :(
Yes little fanboy, we value more in cars than just a label.

Truth be told, i've never been all that fond of the Jetta styling so this picture is of little concern to me. The GTI/Golf V looks like a great car to me, and that is all that matters because I would never consider a Jetta anyway.

Also, who really cares if it looks like a Corolla? Oh no! VW took some design cues from one of the top selling cars for Toyota in North America. What a bunch of fools!

They should have stolen Toyota's build quality/reliability receipe instead of stealing the looks from a boring-a$$ Corollas. The Corolla is about as frumpy as a week old loaf of bread left on the counter to get all hard and dry.

VW's have always been known for their distinctive styling; now they've settled for copying one of the most BORING cars in existence.

Yup. I voiced my opinions over there. The Corolla is my NUMBER ONE HATED CAR OF ALL TIME. For VW to design the Jetta like this, well it borders on insulting.

Well, I don't HATE the Corolla...I wouldn't go that far. It's an EXCELLENT car in fact:

Reliable
Safe
Fuel Efficient
Great build quality/interior materials
Decent performance
EXCELLENT resale value

It just looks boring as hell. For many people, it gets the job done. That's why Toyota sells a BOATLOAD of them.

Imagine the movie Office Space. Think of Peter Gibbons, and what a horrible life he leads. Now think of what car Peter drives. That to me is what the Corolla represents. That is why I hate it.

I don't think it looks that bad, for the most part I've always liked their styling... just not the cars themselves :)
