Next-Gen Madden to premier Apr. 23rd **PICS INSIDE**

I expected significantly more impressive graphics, although I'm sure the animation will help some, as most sports titles these days are using mo-cap.

Still, for next gen that looks weak compared to UE3 or even Doom 3.

Weak compared to Doom 3? HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAH!! God damn you're funny. Not only are you funny, you're ignorant. I'll gladly give you UE3 (even though it IS still a couple of years out, and not necessarily ripe for comparing yet), but Doom 3 does not compare to what screenshots we've seen. Atleast wait till we see this stuff in motion before you spew forth such blabber.

Madden is going to have to be great now that they bought the NFL players association. If not, it's going to suck playing ESPN with no names for the players.

Images like this:

= weak. That looks like Unreal Engine 2 with better lighting and some specular maps added to the textures.

This would be significantly more impressive:

Are the next gen consoles capable of better? I'm sure. The lack of :wow: in the Madden shots is not a fault of the hardware, appears more to me to be a case of poor artwork. Everyone knows the next gen consoles have plenty of grunt.

Statement stands - those shots are unimpressive. There's high liklihood it's due to a schlocky art team, but for whatever the reason those shots are at best a marginal improvement over the stuff we already have.

As for motion:

Try reading.

See you next time and whatnot.

Those most likely are real-time gameplay, but I still think they're decidedly unimpressive for what the next gen consoles have in terms of power...on paper, at least.

Uh, that's great and all, but you're not gonna be spending all your time looking at faces when playing Madden...

Exactly. Why do sports & racing titles always show the cutscene graphics? Sure they look better but they are seriously misleading.

Insomniak that is definitely not real-time gameplay. Those are the shots they show between plays as filler.

My point is I'm pretty sure that's rendered in-engine, which is what matters.

However, if it's not gameplay, yeah, it could be significantly upped in detail (Halo 2 was VERY guilty of that).
