Want to get a new "powerful" laptop for the wife. Guessing that next gens AMD mobile chips will be blazingly fast and efficient. And.. Their imbedded GPU should be fast but how fast - will they be like a 3060 equivalent? I've typically gone with gaming laptops for her which the kids love but I'm more targeted on something that will last a long time and be power efficient and not stoke any worries about overheating, etc...

Any thoughts on what to get between now and the end of the year.Ideally, $1200 is tops

Wish the iGPU, 680M, were that fast. It is about 18% slower than a desktop Geforce 1650. But it has raytracing, if you want to experience it, but likely at very low resolution and low framerates. For best performance, you will need to look for a laptop with at least 16GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM.

Base price: $1549.

That one is below $1200 and comes with the 3060. Intel 11th gen, though. Shouldn't be a deal-breaker, unless you are dead set on getting Ryzen.

Get her an ASUS Zephyrus G14 or G15. Thoe are the best bang for the buck and have AMD CPUs that do not overheat/thermal throttle every other Intel based laptop I've tried recently.
