next gen chips?

My work will be buying a new computer for me but I was hoping to get a next gen chip. Any word on when they might be released? (by next gen I obvsiouly mean something higher than the x2 4800).

april/may? thought more like june/juli. ohwell the sooner the better.

and next gen would really be something like conroe (new architecture) right? those will be out even later.

might aswell get one now, will be a while before something really exciting happens in the desktop market.

Theres nothing "next gen" coming out next year. Neither socket M2 nor the desktop version of Pentium-M (conroe) deserves the "next gen" tag.

Intel Claims the Pressler will be released in 1st Qtr 2006. Dont know if the Dual Core 65n thickness die will be faster, but it may run cooler.

I'd leave that statement up in the air until we actually see what Conroe can do when its completed. Though ATM it doesn't seem very remarkable.
