Next Celeron Speed Bump

I was wondering what people think the Celeron will get upped to next year. 256 cache, 533 FSB, Hyperthreading support? I'm thinking we may see the extra 128 cache and of course faster speeds, whcih will basically make them the original P4's just higher clocked, but do not expect to see Hyperthreading until the year after next and am not to confident on the FSB being upped to 533. I remember how long it languished at 66MHz. Wh'cha think?

I doubt we'll ever see hyperthreading on a celeron. Remember, the whole point of the celeron is to sound fast without having a chance against a P4. If the P4 gets 800MHz FSB next year, the celeron <might> move to 533. But I doubt it.

celeron supposed to be the cheaper counterpart to p4 (although i think p3 would be a better choice, but recently with the faster speeds for celeron i guess best to go celeron)

they may or may not step up to 533fsb, however hyperthreading most likely no otherwise celeron would almost be like p4 which they dont want i would assume

more cache is also a possibility, but im guessing it will either be more cache or higher fsb, probably not both

then again, the users who the celeron is truly aimed at (web browsing, word processing) would be happy with the performance lvl. of like an 800 mhz. socket A or 370 part. They just like to be able to say "look i've got 2 gHz and you only have 1!"

Both AMD and Intel aren't really concentrating on their value range processors now....well Intel have changed the Celeron from being a cut down Pentium III to being a cut down Pentium 4....and AMD did release the Morgan core ages back but that's about it.

With processor prices being driven down as they are, could we actually see an end to the Celeron and Duron's? People who want a value system could then just buy a slower Athlon XP or Pentium 4?

Are AMD going to move the Duron onto PR ratings like the Athlon XP....and when are we going to see some faster Duron chips?

They just like to be able to say "look i've got 2 gHz and you only have 1!"

There is this though I guess.....plus who would drop their value processor first knowing that it could mean the risk of losing the value end if not careful.......
