Conan won't because it's targeted to adults.

Conan will be bigger then you think simply because there are a lot of adults who grew up playing EQ, AC, ultima and would be looking for a great new MMORPG. I tried WoW couldn't get into it. I'm not sure I have time for these types of games anymore but I think I will be trying out Conan.

That being said nothing will come close to the size of WoW if ever... I'm not sure Blizzard could repeat that feat.

However Conan will be the next hit MMORPG.

Yeah, my college friends and I fall into that category which is why we all bought Vanguard..that didn't turn out so well.

What I really want is an MMO from yesteryear, devoid of children and chinese gold farmers.

It's a pipe dream, I know.

Ya, those days are gone for good. It just takes too many subscribers to maintain a quality MMO now. They are forced to take the bad with the good.

Same I loved EQ played since day 1. Now a days it's lost it's wonder but for about 7 years it was great.

I haven't really followed Conan and truly was only looking forward to trying War. But I think opening day I will buy Conan. Maybe I should pre-order. They might give away some decent gift?

Doesnt Lineage already have more subscribers than WoW?

But seriously in the US its going to take another Blizzard MMO to break the stranglehold WoW has on its pop.

Yep.

However...for me..the MMO that might make me quit WoW is the supposed KOTOR MMO being worked on by BioWare....

Finally read up about it just now, and I have this to say: about damn time people look to make an MMORPG that doesn't use the D&D dice-roll aspect (or will it still for damage?) and the hotkey and click for combat system, coupled with wait times. I always hated that and is the sole reason almost all MMORPG's completely turn me off.

AoC will most definitely attract the console fight gamers who would like a taste of a 'true' MMO utilizing their most familiar combat system. The game is going to be released for XBOX 360 as well so it kinda makes complete sense that they did that.

If that ever happens...I'm there.

Yup if those Bioware KOTOR emmorpuguh rumors ever come to fruition, I'll be the first one to sign up for the beta and preorder it on day one :D

On a side note though, I'm willing to give AoC a go; they've worked hard and delayed it enough... It could really be a solid change with a gritty feel that draws you in.

Lineage got completely OWNED by World of Warcraft awhile ago. It is the single largest MMORPG in existence today, and that's by a huge number.

From http://www.mmogchart.com/charts/

WoW has over 62% of the MMORPG market share. Someone's going to have to create a truly epic MMORPG in order to even come close to their success.

WAR seems more oriented at the WoW fanbase, so I am guessing WAR will end up with a lot of subs, I myself will be playing AoC

EVE Online is devoid of children because of it's depth but no MMO is devoid of farmers. Vangaurd was a turd from the moment I beta tested it and then learned it was going into "Open Beta" aka.."Time to sell pre-order boxes" mode. AoC looks to be promising and Warhammer online is still more then 5+ months away but even that is starting to look good.

You do realize that MMOgCharts is not an accurate place for MMO sub numbers. A lot of it is just guess work as most MMO's do not release their sub numbers. Also Lineage 2 is huge in Asia way more so then WoW.

Nothing's going to come close. WoW has successfully gotten the FPS crowd, a much bigger demographic, to pay $15/month. At the risk of sounding like a doomsayer, MMORPGs are dead now since any future title will have to copy the proven player in the market as much as possible, which means dueling for gear. Not an immersive MMORPG experience.

All MMORPGs will do well for at least a year or two but nothing will get close to WoW until Diablo 3 comes out (announcement on May 1st).

In the United States, Age of Conan will do well and Warhammer Online to a lesser degree. The reason why WoW has such a huge lead in subscribers is because their huge numbers comes from China and S. Korea. Last I checked, Age of Conan isn't being released in those MMORPG-happy countries.
