No new registrations for now.

as far as newsbins.com its not even a listing service.

as far as pirating i use it to backup teh movies i buy, much easier to download a copy the movie you bought or game you bought than to rip it your self!. On occasion i do rip stuff my self and fair use wizzard is decent

http://binsearch.info

is decent for searching

if you had kids and a careless wife you would realize the need for backups, nothing more frustrating than having to buy 2 copies of a 60$ game. (i can take picture of all the games and movies ive bought if you want)

Well, I have my entire CD collection ripped, catalogued, and backed up. Took me about 5 clicks each.

I'd imagine my DVD collection would be similar with the use of handbrake.

Yes, do it. Lay out all of your movies and games with the "backup" next to it.

FYI, just because you own a copy of a DVD does *NOT* give you the right to download a copy of the same. It's piracy to do so.

Yeah, you'd be screwed if the RIAA/MPAA came knocking at your door...even if you had a copy. They might even think you started that shit.

Maybe I am talking out of my ass, who knows.

The RIAA offers a list ("Examples of easy ways you could violate the law") detailing how you can get into trouble copying CDs, and it does not include the common practice of ripping a CD as a backup or for personal listening convenience:

So how do you get a replacement copy? William did not say which movies had become coasters, but for Universal Studios films, he can use a Web form to find out if which titles are available for replacement. It costs $7.95 for the first DVD and $2.50 for each additional DVD to cover shipping and handling. No more than 10 titles may be returned per household per year. For MGM titles, he can call 888-223-2369 and explain which movie is damaged; someone in customer service will explain what he needs to send in and where to send it. Not from either of those studios? Try the studio's Web site.

well looks like they will send you another copy for a fee , and looks like you can backup our music. i like to download a xvid of movie i own and put few on disc for kids to watch in back of teh car. Those discs def get damaged by dvd player or kids very quickly

I'm not advocating either way, but this specific issue hasn't actually been before a US Federal District Court yet - at least not to a verdict. Until that happens, you're guessing like everyone else.

5 clicks "each"...unless someone only has a dozen CDs/DVDs...it's going to take a shit load of time just waiting for the ripping to finish so you can swap out the disk.
