That's a joke. I just got back from NC and they hate Edwards there. They say the only reason he's running for pres is because he's not gonna get reelected to his senate seat! He may be from the south, but his values and voting record prove that he sure doesn't represent the south!

I live in NC, and he's not hated here. He's not going to get reelected to the senate because he's not running.

Me personally, if your relatives didn't come over on the Mayflower, well....

Don't even get me started on Jews....

haha

From what i've heard from my cousin in NC about Edwards most of the people are disappointed he isn't spending more time representing them.

This poll was taken by people over the age of 18, not likeley voters. Plus it would have to be divided by state to take into account the electoral college and not the popular vote.

Huh? Not likely voters?

For this NEWSWEEK poll, Princeton Survey Research Associates interviewed 1,006 adults aged 18 and older Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 by telephone. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points. For those questions which surveyed registered voters, 822 people were interviewed, and the margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points. [/b]

Registered voters are not likely voters?

These numbers mean nothing. Bush will win in a very lopsided election. Deep down inside you all know it. You will never admit it, but you know it.

Gotcha. So maybe we should just cancel the elections this year and just have a coronation for GWB...crown and all?

If the Bush re-election campaign hasn't started yet, then WTF was the state of the union address?

It was a speech that the President gives every year - Election or No Election. Some of these guys have spend the last 2 years actually campaigning - It'll be interesting to see when and how Bush puts the Bus in gear.

Seriously, what does that "poll" mean??? Absolutely nothing. I remember how all the polls conducted for Iowa for the past few months pointed towards an easy Dean victory.

If you read my replies to this thread, I said this one poll by itself doesn't mean a whole lot, but if other polls that follow have similar results, it's possible it indicates a trend. The way you make it sound, the poll should be like 99.9999% GWB - .000000001% Kerry.

I really can't stand this whole idea of GWB is soo great he will easily be elected, no matter what. It breeds the idea that why bother to vote when the outcome is already sealed. I think no matter how supposedly sealed the election will or will not be, everyone that can vote, should vote. The same would go if there was a popular democrat in office up for re-election. Maybe he will win in a landslide, maybe he will win a close election...maybe he will even lose by a little or a lot...no one really knows for sure until it happens. A very high turnout for either side could make this election interesting to say the least.

Basically, don't listen to everything the media tells you...look at Iowa.

I absolutely agree with you. The only way democracy truly works is if everyone votes. I'd love to know how many people on this forum actually vote. It kills me when people express strong political views, but don't bother to vote.

Registered voters are not likely voters?

not necessarily. i believe that the "likely voters" tag is ususally used to signify people that have voted in each of the past two elections. but then again polling places place whatever tag they want when categorizing the poeple they polled
