Newsletter open for subscriptions!!!

The newsletter is ready, a little bit earlier than expected.

Mika, Virge, BPhantom and JHutch worked hard on the website, well done!
It had only one minor drawback, nothing serious, but still............😛😛
Mika implemented a script on the website, with which members can subscribe to the newsletter.
I didn't expect this (no harm done, Mika 😛😛), so it was somewhat of a surprise to find around 125 subscriptions :Q:Q in my mailbox. The software didn't work quite as I had it planned, mainly because I forgot to remove a checker in one of the boxes. This caused some minor problems and I had to add ~30 subscribers manually. After some checking and changing, everything is as it should be.😛
Also, I didn't forget to remove the checker.😀😀😀

Hereby, I declare the subscription process to be open. 😛

If you click on this link you should be able to subscribe.

Note to everyone that already has subscribed via the website and checked the newsletter box: You don't have to subscribe again. I have around 130 people in the mailing list, of which 64 still have to confirm their subscription.

Great news PeterN!🙂

I noticed there were a couple places to sign up for newsletters and such, I assume if you check the boxes in either place you will get them? I hope that if you check them in both places you don't get two!😉 Don't get me wrong, I like multiple places to sign up for email, just checking to make sure you have a way to deal with duplication.😉

I got my copy; very, very nice Peter!😀 I see this going far.😉

PS MK, there's 1 box for the daily news letter; and another box for things like us sending an email to everyone when we pass /.

A big TA WoooooMoooooo and Thanks to PeterN for all his hard work on the newsletter! 😀😀😀😀😀

Most excellent! 😀😀😀😀😀

Indeed there are a number of boxes to check on the website, but don't worry. You'll only receive one newsletter. There is a duplication script within the software, that should notify a subscriber if he already did. 😛

The first one (Receive updates) is meant for news about developments and messages around the website and such. Most messages in this categroy will be website related.

The second one (Receive Newsletter) is meant for the weekly newsletter. Also I'm planning on a special bulletin once every two months, in which all important links for the team are summed up.
Not only the teams website and forums, but also all distributed computing projects, interesting news and articles, linux and crackrack related stuff. This has to grow gradually in time.

The newsletter list will be much more elaborate than the website related one, since it is a public list, in which everyone can subscribe. So if family and friends are somewhat interested in TA, they can. I have to make a script for people to sign up via a webpage directly, without the necessity of becoming a member of the teams' website. That is step no two. The most important issue right now, is getting all (or at least 90%) active forum members subscribed.

If anything important (like passing Slashdot) is happening, both lists can be used. I have offered Mika (this also goes for Virge or one of the other webmasters) the use of the newsletter list, in case of some message that must be send of quickly to a broad audience.

The first newsletter to be send to the whole group of subscribers is planned for next monday. Hopefully the stats and ranking chapters will be filled again. That would mean DNet is up again.

If any more questions, please ask.

Peter.

VIRGE, Thanks for the compliment. Have you read it all?

thanx, Mindless 😛
I knew I forgot to mention something:

Mika is working on a newsletter archive on the teams' website.
It won't be long before you can find the two earlier editions there.

Peter.

Could someone forward me a copy of the newsletter too?
I'd like to see it and I'm not patient enought to wait for the archive. 🙂

PeterN

Could you check to see if I am a member of the list? I thought I subscribed but I haven't gotten any other emails other than the one with the subscription instructions. If I am not a member, please Email me. Thanks.

Epyon,

YGM

Freeze,

You're on the list. There went something wrong with the subscription process in the beginning (read all about it at the beginning of this thread 😛).
The 30 subscriptions I had to add by hand have not received a confirmation. 😛

Hope this not only satisfies you, but also all other subscribers.
I'm monitoring everything and if anything appears wrong I correct it by hand.

Right now I can say there are 108 confirmed subscribers to the list. Around 60 people have also subscribed, but must still confirm their subscription.

Peter.
