Which newsgroup is the best for finding TV Shows? I have Giganews and there seems to be sooo many TV alt.binaries out there, which is the best? (meaning availibility and quality)

Thanks a ton!

Newsgroups? I've never heard of such a thing. However, if they did exist, I'd certainly check out anything multimedia-related that happened to be in the binary format.

HUH??? How so. Yes there are the annoying EFNET and FTD number only posts and off topic posts, but we still have access to terabytes worth of data daily.

i use usenetserver and always max out my 10mbps connection...i think i'm being upgraded to 15mbps soon, so we'll see how that works out in terms of speed...

retention is great on this server (~30+ days for most groups).

Why bother with usenet for that stuff? Torrents are the best way to get TV shows... I don't think it's even illegal but I am not 100% on that.

I remember reading this exact same post 12+ years ago when AOL first allowed their users on the usenet.

Usenet is ok but IRC is where it's at... plus it's free. :p

Hmm. There was at least 1/4 of a TB uploaded on the alt.b.mm. Of that, at least 30 different shows complete 2 or 3 seasons were posted. And this was all in the past day. Lets see if BT or IRC do that.

Id probably like newsgroups alot more if my ISP's news server wasnt so damn slow. Highest I can get is like 50 kb/s and it's not consistent. What a joke!

And I dont want to pay extra $$ for some third party server.

edit: I use news.bellatlantic.net (verizon)

dude you'll go crazy looking through the multi-million header binary groups.

I highly suggest whatever show u want u look for it on an indexing site like newzbin.com

I was used to having a good newsgroup server for a long time until I moved. I then got Charter, which has a similarly crappy download cap. I couldn't hack it, and had to pay for a real server--newshosting.com--well worth the 15$ a month IMO.

Just use a better server and an NZB indexing site and it won't even matter.
