Wouldn't the newsgroup see it as the same IP since it's the same DSL connection?

as what?

In most instances, whether you have one PC or ten PCs connected via the same DSL connection-- you share a single public IP address as far as any website or public server knows or cares. This is because your DSL router actually has the public IP address, and uses NAT to share the connection with any PCs you might have.

So in this case, you have nothing to worry about.

He probably means 'each pc' as each dsl modem. He might not have a router.

Yeah if he's running just a hub (network switch) then he has to assign each PC an IP. But I don't know why he would do that. Just run a router and pay for one IP. You can plug a dozen computers into a router and the internet only sees one IP.

Giganews allows 10 simultaneous connections from one IP.

BTW Giganews has 70 days of binary retention, and 945 days of text retention!

Perhaps... it but without knowing how he's connecting his PCs, what equipment he's running, etc. there's no way to know that.

Some people think since their DSL router is dynamically assigning every PC they connect a different private-space IP address that that must mean they have multiple public IP addresses.. which is simply not true.
