I upgraded my speed with Comcast to 6mbps but unfortunately I can't seem to get more than 2.8 from Giganews. I'm just curious if anyone else out there has the same issue.

Also what Newsreader are you working with these days?

For a long time I was using Grabit, it has one of the best interfaces and can update multiple groups at once. But it friggin sucks at resource management, it will literally drain away all the resources you hav available. It's also very bad at working with groups with large amounts of headers.

Newsbin Pro is what I'm currently using and in comparison to the Grabit interface its a bit clunky. however I've had no resource issues when it comes to large groups (a.b.dvd, a.b.multimedia, a.b.hdtv, etc..). My problem (and this could be a user error) is that I can't always recover spools, which is very irritating. There's nothing worse than waiting 2-3 hours to update a group and then later find out that after you close and open the reader the damn thing won't read the spools. Not sure why that happens on occasion.

Newsleecher seems to be a good reader although I have limited experience with it. The interface is appealing and it seems to do well with large groups and the resource management is very good. I'm not sure if it can update multiple groups, if so I'd defintely switch over to it as my current reader.

i use easynews...

they dont offer an unlimited package but 10 gigs for 10 bucks is plenty for me. If I ever need more, I just purchase another 10 gigs for 10 bucks.

i mainly download tv shows as i no longer reside in the U.S. and have a few shows that i cannot miss: Lost, Desperate Housewives, etc. :D

why i prefer easynews? global search + zip manager.

oh and i use easynews' web interface.

I use Raoadrunners news servers. Speed maxes out my 5Meg connection which is great. Only problem is they only keep messages in some groups for like 3-4 days. I did a trial of newshosting and speed was the same but they keep messages for so much longer. But Roadrunner's is free and that works for me.

As for softrware I use Newsleecher.

I have comcast. I havent enabled my giganews account yet though. Aren't we limited to 2Gb? Or some other such nonsense? I can't wait for FIOS.

same here. with easynews there is absolutely no need for a client if you know how to utilize the web interface to its maximum potential. i mean, who wants to wait an hour just to load headers from your favorite groups? lol.

do you search your tv shows using 'autounrar' keyword? that thing is a godsend :)

I use xnews. Not very good but it gets the job done.

You do know how to bypass the 2gig limit with giganews/comcast right?
