I just search the newsgroups for what I want and use Easynews' web client.

It's annoying downloading hundreds of thousands of headers.
Yep. Search, zip, download, works for me.

im using Xnews and its ok...im a n00b to newsgroups though and it seems I can only view about 100 messages at a time with Xnews. Is NewsBin Pro better?

Agent owns. Why fix what ain't broke? That is all. 😀
Why does agent have to time out if it experiences issues with the server and pop up that #$#$@# notification box? God oh lord above me, can't it have a "try again automatically box?"

Yup, that's the one thing I would really want remedied ASAP. I do have a feeling one of those 'add-ons' addresses this issue <pulls up Google> 😀

Otherwise, text or binaries, Agent does it all for me just fine. High initial learning curve though, but well worth finding out what everything does. 🙂

ZipManager > *

No need to wait for annoying headers to download, easy search features with web interface and you get to use reget and other programs to do the downloading for you.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the bought version and the trial/download version? What are the pros to purchasing the software? Besdies supporting the company, of course.

Used to swear by Newsbin. But it became too bloated and slow while they were trudging towards 4.0. I quit using it and switched to Grabit. Sure, it's not as feature packed. No thumbnails, not much multi-server capability. But it does the job well. And doesn't cost me $35... It's kind of like comparing IE to Mozilla, really...

Check it out... Grabit Link

I've used agent(2 years), x-news, easynews and finally newsbinPro. Now I'm only using newsbin Pro. It's the best for binary.

BTW, verizon newsgroup kicks ass.
