I'm entertained by reading this article and then the comments (oh so many comments) related to it.

Causes of controversy:
- This story sucks too much to be on the front page
- This story merits the front page
- The couple is whiny by protesting in this fashion
- The couple is right by protesting in this fashion
- Napa should issue a statement
- Napa should keep their nose out of social issues
My opinion is that the story isn't newsworthy on its' own; if the tale of the couple was used as one of a larger collection of examples about how a city's stance on same-sex marriage affects tourism, and it included some additional examples from other cities that have or haven't issued a formal endorsement then the article might be worth reading.
I don't really care what the couple chooses to do or not do. Whatever works for them.
I think the statement issued by one of the Napa councilmen is right on target; the city officials should stick to running the city and should leave social issues to the bodies that actually have some real impact on them.
What do you guys think?
