I'm entertained by reading this article and then the comments (oh so many comments) related to it.

Causes of controversy:
- This story sucks too much to be on the front page
- This story merits the front page
- The couple is whiny by protesting in this fashion
- The couple is right by protesting in this fashion
- Napa should issue a statement
- Napa should keep their nose out of social issues

My opinion is that the story isn't newsworthy on its' own; if the tale of the couple was used as one of a larger collection of examples about how a city's stance on same-sex marriage affects tourism, and it included some additional examples from other cities that have or haven't issued a formal endorsement then the article might be worth reading.

I don't really care what the couple chooses to do or not do. Whatever works for them.

I think the statement issued by one of the Napa councilmen is right on target; the city officials should stick to running the city and should leave social issues to the bodies that actually have some real impact on them.

What do you guys think?

Same here.

And also who cares.

The couple mentioned are complete dumbasses. They're raising a fuss about Napa (Napa County voted 55% against Prop 8) while living in Modesto (Stanislaus County, voted 68% for Prop 8). Napa is obviously too progressive for them and they should find somewhere else to go.
